Go to the upper right on your screen to just under your login name, click on search - there are many threads on here with info and pics. Mine is modified from stock as far as looks go, but I could send you tons of pics of mine and others, if you e-mail me - [email protected].

You have hull # 11 built in June of 1981. I have #12 built in July of 1981. Last one was # 18 built in 1983. Good luck. There are people out there that want them - be patient - there is nothing out there like them, really.

Just lotsa prop slip ! :-) Right now, seems to run about the same speed, except I can run alot harder!! Having a blast - Had to use my labbed 29 mirage plus, the smaller diameter 27 spun too much. Lost bow lift because of loss of bite - 4 blade should fix that and give me more speed with less trim angle I figure. Ready to try some props - Have not GPS'd it yet, and gotta get my pictures ready - I'll do an update thread soon - been too busy boatin'! 28 hours on the drive already......been everywhere since I don't have to worry about bustin gears!! break-in oil change looked right..... and I've stayed with the royal purple.

Can we see some pics of the one you're thinking of selling?

Great looking 27
have you been out in 4 to 5 footers if so is the boat a dry ride or do you get wet, looking at one now as a project, I have a hd bravo/ bravox drive 670hp package or a konrad ace/ dean gellner blower motor1050hp not dynoed yet. to put in a boat, what power and how much is yours worth if you don't mind me asking. I wish they had a cabin and more freeboard. but my wife has not been in a overnight trip with me in years:eek:. so at our age a room for the night. so keep us posted it looks good, do thing one with the blower set up and new cockpit and paint could sell for 70,000 to 85,000 or is that just a dream. I saw one for 35,000 or 40,000 not to long ago but don't know if its new stuff in it or old.

I think 35 to 40 would be the limit no mater what you do to it - unless someone out there wants a LipShip version. The last one for 40 I saw was the one with full width bench - great interior, blower motor, sweet paint, but still TRS. They are still an old hull design, and although built super strong, they are gonna be slow compared to some modern designs. I need the strength for the water I see. I have no idea what mine is worth - I paid 25k with nice alumn trailer 6 years ago - I thought that was too much, considering I did not really like how the interior was done - not enough padding - and the paint is a faulty pearl - but I wanted it, and kinda had no choice - had only seen 3 forsale in 15 yrs at the time. My wife had NO interest in sleeping on a boat - so I figured to hell with a cabin - plus I spend alot of time wakeboarding with my kids in it, so I like the ease of entry and exit - runs 18mph on a plane with tabs down and 29" prop at barely 2k rpm! It's a light boat when your in 4-5's, so it depends on the distance between them, and your guts level - go fast and lotsa air, go slow, get wet....... Handles bigger water than say a 24x7 hull for sure, not as good as a 28 cig (heavy!) Lighter and lower than a pantera 28. I would say it's probably closer to a 22 donzi in size and feel, than say a 30 cig, if that helps - although I've never had to back down from fight against any size boat in rough water :-)

Stormrider 07-28-2009 08:21 PM

Hangtime, i think that one that was 40k is now in the oso classies, asking 32k.

Hey Hang Time - I knew you didn't have my old 27 but I didn't remember that yours was the one sitting in Everglades Marine's inside storage back when I bought mine in the mid-1980's. The red and blue picture of it reminded me. Yours was sitting with the motor partially apart, I'm pretty sure the owner ran out of money and it was being sold for storage and bills. Brian from Everglades called me a few months after I bought mine and asked if he knew of any buyers for that boat.

Small world that they both wound up in Maryland.

Barry

Thanks Barry, that is pretty wild. Haven't seen yours since it sold last around here 7+ or so years ago - must have gone north in the bay, or ??

I lost track of it after Kenny Boss sold it. In fact, I haven't seen or talked to Kenny in probably a decade.

olredalert 08-08-2009 07:40 PM

------I know the boat well. I know what happened to it and I know the owner in FLA. Last I heard it could be had for around $8000 with no power or drive. He is an OSO member so Ill try to call him tomorrow to tell him to post on here.........Bill S

Cabins only tend to slow you down, and result in wives and children infesting your boat more often........ :-)

man, I'm up sh*** creek if she reads this..........

Here's a link for some flyin in the Squadron - I was playin around just outside Annapolis Harbor last sunday and noticed this guy broke out a camera - but it was crowded and he was entering a 6mph zone, so we didn't get any real good shots --- Found him in the harbor later to give him my info.

Low quality shakey film - but hey, its better than nothing - gonna have to try for some good footage now.....

I was right, that's the same boat, just sitting at a shop but not for sale, awaiting resto. Good to know.

Looks like a blast Hang Time!! Some real good air on that second jump.

Hang Time 27 09-26-2009 09:19 PM

Hey Mike. Racked up 85 hours on the Konrad drive this summer.....was going for 100, but a few little issues added up to a hole in piston #7 during a GPS top speed run the other week. Summer ended. Motor was VERY tired and was scheduled to be rebuilt this winter anyway....bottom end was 10 seasons old, and burnin oil by the bucket. Not sure if I'm going with supercharger, or just nice heads and exhaust - gotta bump it up some if I'm tearin it apart!!

Hope all is well with you.

Squadron 27

I have a XEX squadron 27 that is 1/2 restored. I 'm putting a 540 Merlin around 600 HP. It has a TRS and a beefed Velvit drive. I will post some pic's when I get back to Cape Cod. Can't wait to actually run the boat. Brian

I think I picked up maybe a mph or two at most - blew the motor by the time I got a GPS and tried some long hard runs for a max speed - 540 was tired anyway, no major damage.

Best thing was that I could run 4 and 5 blade props for better cruise speeds and rough water running without cringing the whole time.

hang time that is a great looking boat, I love the lines!

Squadron XII 24 Exhaust Noise Issue

Hi all,
I am the proud owner of a small but very cool offshore boat: a 24' Squadron XII. I absolutely love it.

I keep in on a large fresh water body in a very large archipelago with rather narrow channels and a new noise restriction was just implemented.

Currently the boat has a mildly warmed up 1979 400TRS Mercury 454 V8. In stock form the motor produces 370 horserpower, but it has had some minor mods which likely boosted horsepower in the 10% range. The exhaust however, appears to be stock.

While the easiest solution would be to clamp on Borla's new mufflers outside the transom, the positioning of the dual hydraulic steering arms prevent the application of anything outside the boat.

As such, I'm trying to figure out if anyone knows of any high-performance mufflers which are highly effective of lowering noise but do not rob a lot of power which fit between the (stock) exhaust elbows and the inside side of the exhaust tips. Currently there is a 4"-diameter rubber hose between the two about 18" to 24" in length.

Suggestions?

Hang Time 27 05-31-2010 03:10 PM

Are you familiar with the "shotgun" mufflers that go on the outside? Very small, and they do cut down the noise well, not as good as an actual full size muffler, but best you may do with space issues.
