Default 1993 Gun : Changing the round deckrail to newer style

Have the round chrome type on the deck and also running around the sunpad on my '93.

Can I get the flat square ones that they use on the newer Guns from anyone besides Cigarette ? I havent called them yet for pricing but I would imagine I'd have to bend over. Do they use the same holes as the existing ?

Guidance and suggestions please, thanks in advance !

Jaime,

Have you thought about glassing over the holes and repainting? Just a thought.

You would have to fill in the old holes, at least on the deck as the flat bar mounts on aluminum 'pods' (for lack of a better word) directly underneath it and the round bar mounts kick off to the side a bit. At least you have the round bar on the deck and the rear, I know a guy that has round bar on the deck and flat bar on the rear

But all it really is, is a piece of aluminum stock. I'm sure you could fabricate it yourself by finding a local metal supplier for the material.

The flat rail is 1/4" x 1.5 or 1/75" flat aluminum stock with a radius routered on the edges. The original block design was just a piece of 1.5" round stock with a hole in it for mounting. Then they went to the trapazoid style. I like the round style because it is easier on the hands and feet. I have the actual dimensions somewhere I'll take a look.

Or get rid of it all together. It looks good. Of course I am biased.

That rail is Taco metal stock, the center spacers are tube or square stock machined. You can get the aluminum and make it yourself. http://www.tacometals.com/

That's what you and I have Dave for Jamie....he can do anything!!!!! hahaha Bye the way I took mine off when i repainted it...looks good to me but to each there own!!

Flip side is to have Dave make some temporary small brackets or small covers just to hid the screw holes....see the functionality of it and determine if you like it or not...just my .02

I kind of like the old style rails. Like somebody told me before, if you want a boat that looks new, buy a new boat. Gotta love old school TOP GUNS. JMO.
