There was thread on this boat a while back but I can't remember what it was about, but I am sure someone will chime in. I think it sat in the water and had some real bad corrosion with the drives and gimbles.....but I night be wrong.

Sick Stinger 06-20-2009 11:24 AM

Ok thanks, Seems like a good deal but hasnt sold yet something isnt right about it. Also i asked for transome and drive pics he will not email them. And being 3K miles away its gonna be a b!tch to get to see it and not waste a weekend and flight.

It's starting to come back to me, I think the tabs where shot to. You have to figure $7500 for Bravos, $5000 for transom assemblies and I am not even sure on the price of tabs. There are better deals. I would go buy Sean's boat in a second if I was looking. I am trying to get a buddy of mine step up.http://www.boattrader.com/listing/19...Racer-95036298

Sick Stinger 06-20-2009 11:48 AM

He' only asking 29K right now i assume will take 25.

4195 06-20-2009 12:06 PM

Let's add it up
$5k for transoms ass.
$8k for drives
$3k for tabs
$2k poos. motor work
$? transporting back
So that puts you at roughly $18k plus transport add that to the $25k you are willing to payplus labor if you have some one do the work and you are right at the price of Seans boat with new XR drives and new 496's with freash water cling plus a trailer.

Stay away...I have never seen a cig in worse condition. The owner let it sit in the water for years. I have pictures somewhere of this boat out of the water that would make a strong man cry!

Sick Stinger 06-20-2009 09:55 PM

West send them over im interested in seeing.
-Mike

DareDevil 06-20-2009 09:58 PM

If it still looks like on the pictures,,,and sounds solid......then i think 25 is a deal if u do the work yourself.

So lets say 40 all done,,,used drives and so even less.

Sick Stinger 06-20-2009 11:02 PM

I added it up on a rough shot off OSO parts:
Drive Bravo X-7K
Transoms Assemblys-3K
Tabes- 2K
Trailer 4.5K
Deliever 3K
heads- 3k
Buy at 25K or so
46k or so have a 95 cafe
-Mike

SKRAMER 06-21-2009 09:09 AM

I've been wondering about this boat too.

It's been for sale for a while, and the price constantly dropping. I've just assumed it is very rough, but at this price a great buy for a do-it-yourself guy.:drink:

I also think at some times it's been listed by the individual and 1 or more brokers (at 20K more).

Westcoast 06-21-2009 01:08 PM

This boat would have been in better condition if it it sank.

I do have to chuckle a bit on the numbers. Not that its a bad deal but having done this myself I would double the estimate.

Even at that if you do it yourself and know that its done right it would be worth it to the right person. My problem has always been the anal tendencies. I can't put something back on unless its perfect.

If its been sitting in water that long I would be most concerned about a wet transom. Of course if you have the glassing skills and if you are already pulling motors the transom may not be that big of deal.

I hope someone grabs this one and cleans it up. It would be a great thread to watch. :)

Sick Stinger 06-21-2009 01:42 PM

Ive already done it on a single. 589 blown 10-71 Tbred and a max worx XR drive along with HD gimbal and a reglassed transome. It was all done the right way and everything was painted brand new everything down to the last nut. The money should be right on give or take a 1K. And that is done right, i have a few good connections that i can get great pricing on. West post some pics if its that bad i dnt want to fly to cali for nothign. Or if some one else is board and lives around there snap a few and post.
-Mike

Westcoast 06-21-2009 09:57 PM

A perfect example of why you don't leave your boat in the water:poopoo:

Sick Stinger 06-22-2009 11:12 AM

Agreed.......
-Mike

DareDevil 06-22-2009 11:33 AM

But now????? what is soooooooooo bad about it ???

This is all an easy fix for that price !!!!

Cleaning ,,buffing and overhaulingthe drives and tabs.

Don't really see any hard damage !! ??

STRAIGHTPRIORITY 06-22-2009 11:34 AM

dishearting

Full Force 06-22-2009 11:44 AM

I did TRS drives, rebuilt 2 engines, added K- planes, gauges, stringers and transom to my Baja... plus all the little stuff that adds up for about 20,000 total, not bad for what I did and if you are putting money into a boat it may as well be a Cig!

I am a bargain guy and bought and sold many things to make it cheaper, if I boiught all brand new and paid someone it would have easily been 50,00+ to do what I did, if you are the right guy you can put that boat together cheap in a way and have a sweet ride!

Sick Stinger 06-22-2009 11:58 AM

Full thats my ide wheel and deal and do work my self. I enjoy it plus i have all nessasery equipment and space to do it. Most i can go in a weekend with what i have avalable.
-Mike

hurleyr 06-22-2009 12:58 PM

That's very sad to see. I remember when that boat was for sale a few years ago for over $100K (with big motors). It was very clean back then.

You're thinking of Larry's cafe (same paint). It went to Japan and is still there.
