Great boats guys . I will post some pictures of my 85 flat deck. Kvogt I have a what might be a stupid question. In order to run the props in a counter rotation manner do you have To run one motor in reverse ?

I have a custom set of Arneson drives. The right hand drop box has gears in to allow that box to counter rotate.

I would try droppping the boxes 1 notch. This will put you alittle deeper and probably reduce your slip. As someone else suggested also try taking the cavitation plates off too.
It came from cigarette with the boxe's #3's & 540ci hawk engines.I put in the 572's and took off the 3's and put on the #4's.I have tried alot off different props can't get the slip factor down below 28%,from 4,000-5,500 I have a large amount of slip.I'm going to try another pair this weekend,Im hoping to get her to run close to 80.btw the prop shaft is 1.5" below the bottom thanks for the nice compliments.

With modern props he should be fine. Usually the pain is getting on plane without a high rpm burnout, once up on plane most guys don't have a large slip problem. Is there a hook in the bottom or something, that is keeping the hull to wet?

I don't disagree with modern props. Cost is a big factor though nless you can find someone who will let you borrow something close to what you need. The extra inch of depth may help more than hurt performance without spending the money.
Would be good to know if there is a hook in the bottom. Spinning the props in will pull the transom down some and a hook will drive the nose down. Bad combo.

I ran the boat this weekend with 17 3/8x30" 4 blade props and it was like a different boat,it got up on plane with no problem and the slip came down to 15%,the best so far.My only problem is that i'm down on rpm's.I'm looking for 17.5 or 18 dia.x26 or 27's.My prop shaft is 1.75 below the bottom so it seems like the larger dia. is helping me alot with getting on plane and helping the slip%.thanks for everyone's input I appreciate it.

I wish it was in the budget, but you have a good point.I just had these motors built &I don't feel like doing it all over again.I think going with a lower pitch should help me reach my rpm range and give me more speed I hope!!!
