I saw that listing on E-bay also. The paint caught my eye. But ........ check out the Hull ID. It doesn't look right. Cigarette Hull ID's start with CRT. The raised ribs on the deck don't seem right either, but I am not that familiar with early Top Guns. I could be totally wrong. Now the cabin layout appears to look correct. It's just my opinion, but you might want to inquire about it with more knowledgable Cig owners here on OSO. (OldSchool) might be able to help you. I believe he has an '88 Top Gun. If anyone would know ... I think it would be him.
P.S. It might just be a real Top Gun and the wrong Hull ID got posted in the ad. That's always a possibility.

Jumped the gun on my previous post ...
After looking into it some, the rail strips on the deck appear typical of Top Guns around that era. I would say that it is a Top Gun and I was premature to question that it wasn't without looking into it furthur. Sorry bout that ... my mistake. I have seen a few boats advertised on internet sites as Cigarettes ... when actually they were not.
Still ... the Hull ID doesn't seem right.

I am guessing this one must have been "built" and sat around for a while and then stamped and sent out the door??
Maybe some of the TG guys can chime in but that deck looks funny. It has a "recessed" area that I don't think I have ever seen on a GUN. I thought they were all flat across>?
And yes, that is an odd HIN.

Here's a link to the auction. I believe this exact same boat was sold on ebay about a month ago. From Texas, if I remember correctly. Might want to do a search on completed listing for Cigarette.

I'm sure it's a real Top Gun. Who knows about the odd HIN# Maybe a re-issue?? Should be CRT as stated above.
Here's a few pics of my 1989 'Gun for comparison.
Good luck, would be a cool project. I really like the ride of my old Top Gun. It works very well.

That's a Top Gun deck, it just has the harware removed, pos. removed during painting. It's missing the bow rail and front cleats. But the three raises in the deck are typical to Top Guns.
Like Seaford said, the cabins changed right around 90-91. Theres other things that changed through the early 90's. (got rid of the stainless round rails in leu of the flat ones, changed the bolsters to the high back, changed the air vents on the engine hatch, etc.).
Ad says 20k for that paint job!? Unless someone got burned, I don't think thats a 20k paint job.
You ask how much should you pay in this economy? That all depends. From the engin bay shot, you can see a dip stick so I assume there's motors. And I'll assume they'll need to be re-built (8-10k each). You need the drives, I can't tell if they're bravo or TRS gimbals. If they're TRS, you might as well go with Konrads (8-10k each). If they're Bravos, 2-3500 each (but save for the constant rebuilt...Straight guns are bravo eaters). It obviously needs exhaust (5k?). The cockpit interior looks pretty beat. (5-10k for new cockpit interior). the paint is rough (the blends don't loolk too great) but you could live with it.
So when you're thinking of buying, add the above money to the purchase...Then double the number because we all know that's how it goes!
In regards to this being a "real top gun" or not. There was that company that sold a few (I think it was under 5) "fake" Top Guns in the late 80's. there was a white one with a teal stripe for sale for a looooooong time. But the cockpit, dash layout is completely different (and cheesey). I don't think you have to worry about this being a fake gun. I think the seller has no clue, since it's a repo and he screwed the hin up when listing.

I don't think I'd pay much more than the current bid on that thing, unless you happen to have some engines and drives lying around. I think you could sink 50k into that thing REAL quickly.
Tank - there aren't any engines you can see the mounts are empty.
