Default GPS in place of compass

Has anyone replaced the compass in the middle of the dash (older Top Guns, Cafe') with a GPS unit? If so, please post pics.

I replaced my speedo with the GPS. I would keep the compass, at the end of the day it is the most important navigation tool you could have.

It's either going in place of the compass or over the cabin door. Kind of on the fence..... Another option is on the passenger side, though not really a fan of that.

+1 I like the location of the GPS, but I would never, ever leave home without a compass. These are "offshore" boats aren't they?

Here is one I did. I painted it to match the console, it's an insert that goes in the old compass hole. I didn't want to permanently modify the console until we decided we liked the location and the GPS itself. Compass is still on board, its stowed in a cubby somewhere.

I would not choose this type of install, I would go for a more custom look if it was my boat.

It was smoothed and painted to match, not ideal but it works. I don't see how a jack-arse comment like that wouldn't be offensive
