Default Fender Size for Cafe

I'm getting a late start to prepping the new-to-me Cafe. What fender diameter do you recommend? I'm guessing 8 1/2". Is 10" overkill? The boat will see LOTO weekend water, so I need big enough, but I don't want to go too big.

Thanks!

I've got 10's myself. Better safe than sorry, that's for sure.

I think I've got 10's as well, and wouldn't want anything smaller. Our boats are too heavy for ***** fenders.

OH - and get some fender covers. Always nice to have, and common courtesy at Poker Runs if you have to tie up to someone.

Amen! I have white fenders, but I have them sleeved with black fabric covers. Don't want white fender scuffs on my new "black" paint.

Dont just think about your boat, think about the knucklehead in the 40+ footer that wants to raft next to you and only has the equivalent of a tampon on a rope. never hurts to have a couple of the 12 inch, i carry 2 of each and they all stow well..

Any advantages of the center hole version over the regular ones with an eye on each end?

Greg

I highly recommend the 10 inchers. 8.5 are Ok if you are boat to boat but the 10 inchers make a huge difference at the docks which is usually where you need the protection. I have the center hole ones. I like them because they can roll with the boat and not bind up the ropes.

Cool

Just my opinion but fenders are like Boobs. The bigger the better.
