I'm pretty positive the first boat was originally a Lake Texoma boat that went to a guy that was a freaquent member here a few years back from Vegas. He had some bad luck with the boat (motors cracked one winter due to not being winterized), shop he took it too left it out in the sun (interior destroyed), finally got some new motors in and fixed the interior then sold it. The guy that bought it had a buddy that posted on here a bunch. They fixed a bunch of stuff with the boat after buying it from Vegas. Sounded like they got all the gremlins worked out and the thing was a sweet ride! It actually has the old swim step from my boat on it:drink:
The second boat I don't know but between the two, I'd take the first boat. Newer, updated interior, newer motors and with those 502's in the second boat you're going to get a max speed of like 60 mph! Not knockin the second boat but when they're equally priced, I think the first one offers more. Just my .02 Just buy my boat...I'll deliver it to you!! |
Wow I'm impressed tank!! That's basically the story I got from the guy on the first boat...minus the interior being ruined and replaced :D He said he rebuilt the other motor once he bought it and put hydraulic steering on it :D I heard these older ones without it are a b!tch to dock
I agree also, out of the two the first one seems to offer a lot more. PM or e-mail me more details on your boat please...not sure if it's in my price range...but definitely want to know more. |

Take the first one of those two. The second one has to be ready for a complete refresh at 430 hours, it would hardly get out of it's own way with that power in it, it DOESN"T have external Hydraulic steering, it is the OLD cabin syle, the dark pading around the cockpit makes it look dated, the huge black speakers that you can see in the cockpit wreak of hackjob. Also I am not sure how well the trailer on that one fits seeing as how in every shot it is 4 feet from the bumpstop - makes me question fitament.
My .02..... |

seafordguy thanks for the feedback...I would definiately lean towards the '93 between those two. It just amazes how these things are priced...doesn't seem to be any consistancy or logic...they're all over the place!

If I were in the market for that type of boat I would buy Tanks.

Thanks for the plug Steve. Jason and I have talked. :drink: |
The first one was in my family for a while. From new until around 2006 it was a fresh water boat that was between Grand Lake and Texoma. We sold it to the guy in Vegas. The trailer was bought new from Fastload and delivered just before the boat went to Vegas. I dont think you will find any other Cigarette's that are that old with that much of their life in fresh water. It was a nice boat when we had it. It had HP425's.
|
TxHawk thanks for the info...it looks like a clean boat.
|
Jason i know you want a TopGun but it seems this is a really good deal. I dont know him or about the boat.

Yeah you're right Mike, I actually saw that already before I was set on a Gun and tried to contact him but no reply. Does look like a good deal especially considering there's another '95 Cafe down here in FL that they're asking $59k for!
Thanks for looking out... |
Alright Jay get that gun then. If you want me to try to contact i will.

Mike I'll let you know if I change my mind...thanks again!

The one thing you need to realize is that every Top Gun you mentioned had TRS drives. Just think about it before you go spend that kind of money because you could spend another 20K to swap out to Konrads, unless you can find parts to repair the TRS's.
Check out the 1991 in Miami with XR's. It has yellow strip down the side. May have already sold but dont' know. :coolcowboy: Just my 2 cents. |
amann you talking about the 1991 Top Gun for $56k in Miami? If so, it's already sold...
Yeah I am aware of the TRS situation...differing opinions on this matter...doing my research for sure. Thanks for commenting though...appreciate it. |
Just something to consider ...
When I was looking for a Cafe Racer, I settled for one with TRS drives knowing that Konrads were a possible purchase down the road. I finally ended up buying the Konrads. Glad I did. |
I can't get over the price of some of the Cafe's Holy crap they will have to use mine as a coffin. I love the lines of the Cafe deck and don't see a big differnce in ride but with that being said I have never heard anyone complain about the additional 3 ft. The Gun definately is more saleable(Bravo). Both boats are great find the right deal and the one with the least amount of work needed. On a side note on the Bravo vs TRS deal from what I have learned is the TRS is a great drive and some even say the boats ride better with them. The down side is they do rob some hp and the perception there are no parts for rebuilds so the market discounts those boats. The bravos are not as strong but cheap as hell to replace compared to everything else. Good luck ! Also I have heard nothing but positive comments about Konrads.

Here is my 96 top gun i bought a month ago. Old pic with coyete racer on it and the new pic with the new paint! I am very happy with my purchase and got a good deal on it. Just keep looking and you will find the right one.
I did look at the 93 your looking at and its a good deal and I think you can get it under 50K if thats what you want. The TRS are a good drive and shift smoothly, but you will eventually have to get parts for them or replace them. I would suggest finding one with bravo's or xr's! One thing to think about is resell!!!! It depends on your price range too. Good luck:drink: |

I'm not knocking. Just want the buyer to be informed. I thought the previous owner of the one that sold in Vegas said he replace the cracked blocks with used motors. Then had issues with them after the install. I looked at that one back then but was scared away by those comments. |

I am not sure what your long term plans would be, but having converted a TRS boat to bravo (Boxes and IMCO's), I wish I would have stuck with the TRS so that I could run Konrads. If you are happy with 500HP then I don't guess it matters. The old 38's need 650+ to make things interesting.
Here is a picture of the boat when on Texoma. |
Keep your money in the bank and wait a year or so, you will be able to buy a TS for 80K , if you need a gun now Tanks is the one to buy !!

Tanner, you really think TS guns will be 80k in a year? I was thinking they've hit the floor (hard) in pricing. |
IMO we will not see to many T/S for 80 K over the winter and next year

Guys thanks for all the information and comments!
I have been talking to Tank about his and looking at a couple others too. I'm fortunate to be in a good position to be able to buy in this depressed market...there are some good deals for sure. I am patient and am learning a TON on here so far...great comminity for sure! I have learned more over the last week than I ever knew about Cigarettes...lol Anyways, keep the comments and discussion coming...and thanks again to everyone! |
I know quite a bit about the first one, see it just about every day...what do you want know about it? :D
|
Does that mean non T/S will be worth under 50k next year? Might as well wait till next year.
|
TS's for $80k, non TS's for under $50k??? Could it be??? Hmm...what to do, what to do

There is always something that needs done |
I have a hard time believing that useable T/S Guns in decent shape, and not needing any refresh work are going to be 80k this winter....
If so I guess I'll have my Cafe for the rest of my life. |
I aint saying **** !!!! Just my .02.... we have not hit bottom in our sport

Alright guys, just wanted to say thanks a lot for all the leads and info that I found on this forum and through this thread.
Update...MY SEARCH IS OVER!!! :drink: I finalized a deal with Tank yesterday. His TG is coming back home to Ft. Lauderdale! Let me just say that Tank is a top notch guy! The transaction was incredibly smooth and the boat is immaculately kept! We did the sea trial last weekend and it was amazing. A great day overall. The boat ran strong, we were out for hours and the company was great. I'm really looking forward to enjoying my new TG...now I just need to wait for her to get here...going to seem like an eternity :( |
She is coming back home....Congrats to both of you guys !!

Thanks birdog! I can confirm what Jason has said...great and smooth transaction, awesome day on the water and the beginning to a great friendship! Going miss the ol girl and hopefully she treats Jason as well as she treated us and he and his girlfriend have as much fun with her!
I can also confirm Jason, it is true, Bobby and steve know their sh!t and could be a great asset! Boat won't ship for another couple weeks, then it goes straight to lip ship for a good going over by the lip ship crew. Enjoy Jason! See you in November!:drink: |
