I don't think ANYONE is going to tell you to go with a super charged set up over a N/A motor. But a 250 Blowershop blower (with chiller)? I'd take that set up before Pro-chargers as well.

I used to use vortechs on street cars and always found them to be lacking, prochargers and vortechs have gotten better over the years but for the money that you spend for them, your builder could do you some n/a's in the 650 -750 range that run on 89 all day long.

I'm always looking for more power, and I have the option of supercharging my motors (would put me at 800) but after a long talk with Dave at MDG, he can build me 850 N/A's with injection that will run all day long on 89..the costs are relatively the same and no worry's about fuel octane availability.

Something else to think about - you'll have to cut the hatch to get blowers in there. Even my small 177 Wieands needed the hatch cut.

I had mine done back in 2003 if they are done right you shouldn’t have any problems

Ive had the Weiand 177 Blowers on my engines all summer with no issues at all. With the weather gettin cooler, the boat keeps goin faster! Actually babied the boat the first half of the summer worring about breakin something. I was always nervous about blowers, but I had these engines dyno tuned and I think thats the key for a trouble/worry free engine. I would recommend this style blower to anyone. I think Franks engines would needs bigger blowers than I have though. More cubes=more air/fuel

I run 177's on my 502's. Not sure what size Franks are. I am happy enough with mine, but speed/power is not my concern - mine is just being bale to boat every weekend.....

This is why this site is great! I appreciate all the feedback, I am still pondering all options. My original idea was to go naturally aspirated but I can't discount these small charger options for bang for the buck. I have the motor builder going through a couple of options right now on price and power. Now I have to keep working on my wife because I have had a new project each winter since 2006, but why stop now?

also, to answer your question, we need to know about your motors......what are the specs on them right now??? Cubic inch, bore X stroke, comp, pistons, heads????

They are 500hps with a little head work and a bigger cam (550hp) 8.75 to 1 compression stock bore

oh ok. id say for the most hp for the money, your best bet is going with a big intercooled blower and keeping the boost down. for more money and reliability make them 540's, get some dart heads, up your comp a little, put a hotter cam in it.......a NA 540 stroker done right will put you at 750hp on pump gas...
