so if they arent close, then what is the main differences. is the x more sport than the tiger? I didnt see the tiger on 2011 line up so I am guessing the x is more efficient and the newer design
It looks too me both are step hulls but the staggard set up on the x moves the cockpit farther forward and the cabin is smaller, what else is different?

Not real serious yet, I bought momma a bass boat and a new playcraft with a 300 this year so i may have to wait a little bit, but i am just educating myself.

The Tiger was released some time in the mid 90's, it utilized the Revolution hull with a new/updated deck, interior and cabin. The first of the Tigers were obviously straight hulls and most had large power and #6 drives.
In the early 00's when Cig started stepping their boats, they came out with the stepped Tiger. The boat ran great with bravos and smaller power but ran like sh!t with large power and 6's because the CG was not right. Cig quickly fixed this problem by changing the steps around a bit, thus changing the CG. This evolved into the 42X. For a couple year in the mid 00's Cigarette sold both the "Tiger" and teh "42X". If you wanted ITS/Bravo package you got the Tiger, if you wanted the big power and 6's you ordered the 42X.
Eventually though, Cig realized that the 42X was a great hull and performed well with Bravo's/ITS/NXT & VI's. So they scrapped the Tiger and now sell the 42X with whatever lay out you want.
In the pics bellow you can actually see the change in the steps: a little smaller and a little closer. The Blue "Tiger" with Neil driving is the old step desing and the yellow/Green "42X" with Bud driving is the new step design. The other pic is a straight bottom Tiger.
And of course, besides the bottom changes there is continuing upgrade and changing of the interior, dash, cabin (though the basic form of all pretty much stayed the same).
