What to do What to do

Recently attained a cig 28 ss that some of you may have passed on! I'm thinking about making it a single. I've heard of several 27' Mags that have been made singles but never a 28' cig? Anyone? What do you all think? By the way this boat doesn't have to break the sound barrier i'm thinking mid 60's to 70mph. What would it take for power? Thanks in advance for any input. Rich

The one i sent you pictures of! There was a thread somewhere about it. Project in ohio. By the way that is the available trailer! Tires blown up and axles pumped full! Rolls pretty good too!

28cig is a much bigger boat than a 27mag.
go w/ stock twin sbc's if you are looking for less hassle.
Changing that to a singe will be a disaster moving stringers, filling transom and all that.
You'll need a hell of a BBC to get that boat into the upper 60s.

Storm What you say makes good sense. Maybe that's why i haven't heard of one being done. I know them to be very heavy i haven't yet weighed the boat. Does anyone have an idea how much one weighs? Another thought i just had is if anyone has any idea how many may have been built with Volvo outdrives? Thanks Rich

i think lucky strikes 28 had volvo drives.

Negative! Don't make a twin a single. It's usually attempted the other way around.

I'm guessing it's the all white 28 that had been bounced around to a bunch of members here? Cool boat and the price was RIGHT!

I assume that boat has small blocks. Yea, it's more money to maintain and fuel but you have the peace of mind knowing you can get home safely if a motor or drive goes. Easier to manage around the docks...Then there's the whole thing that it's less stress on two drives than one and of course the simple fact a 28' boat with twins is just bad azz!

Don't make it a single.

I'm rethinking the single thing! It'll stay twins, I was just putiing it out there to see what came up. Thanks for the input i'll continue to look for guidance as this boat comes back to life! As for having been bounced around , Not this one, only 2 owners of this 1973 and a good portion of it's life has been in a climate controled storage facility, just over 400 hours 4 bolt main 350's with volvo 280 trimable drives. The dust and dry have taken some toll on it though! I'll post pic's or should i say ask for someone to post for me, after it's washed up . Thanks for your comments Rich
