1989 Cig.

I`ve been drawn to this boat everytime I do a search, love the colors, drives, motors etc.
What does something like this weigh?
What do you guys think of the price?
Fuel is probably gonna get a bit more expensive huh:drink: (over my single 600SC)

Very nice boat. Good horsepower, good drives. It does not look as old as it is. Nevertheless, they are asking too much money. I was asking $75,000 for my 38 foot, 1994 Cigarette Top Gun. Twin 600hp supercharged 502's with 50 hours on them. Roller motors. Boat has only been in FRESHWATER. I think no one wanted my boat because it has bravo 1 drives. Had 2 phone calls in 2 years. I'm keeping the boat now. Those engines will take at least super unleaded. Regular gas is predicted to be $5.00/ gallon by the end of 2012, thanks to Obama. So, $5.40 for superunleaded. My 600hp superchgared motors burn about 45 gallons per hour at 3000rpm cruise. Those 800hp engines will most likely burn more, lets say 55 gallons per hour at cruise. That is $297.00 per hour at cruising speed. If you want to go faster, double it.

Just the info I was looking, thank you.
P.S. Any idea on weight?

I started a thread on this boat a year ago on a differnt site. Many warned me that this is not going to be a cheap boat no matter what I pay for it

Now that I am thinking about it, I have Dart Block, Supercharged 509's (502 Block). Dyno at 600hp at 5500rpm. That's with 6.5-7 lbs of boost and super unleaded. The only way that I know how to get 850hp would to be to stroke it to a 540, added bigger blowers and add an intercooler. I think it would be impossible to get 850hp out of a 502, unless you put jet fuel and nitros to it.

9500 according to Cigarette

I'm not knocking the boat in ANY way, but in my humble opinion, it doesn't matter how nice it is, it would be foolish to pay more than 50K for it, and count on engine rebuild $$$ within a year if they're finding a way to make that HP. Oh yea, you better have cash, because no one will finance it because it's too old.

Not trying to be Debbie Downer.... Just honest. :) Because of the economy, the market has been set. ;)

I agree with you. Maybe pay $50,000, and have $20,000 ready on the side for a possible rebuild.

C'mon Old School - don't remind us:lolhit:

You'll be close to what the attached spec sheet shows. BUT remember that is before the swim platform, tie bar, external hydraulic steering, anchor, blowers, strainers, etc, etc, etc. Expect quite a bit more in weight - I think most of us Cafe Guys estimate 14-15k full loaded on the trailer.

Also - i bet that the fuel will be the cheapest part of 800hp blower motors in the long run!!

Oh - and as much as I love Cafe's I wouldn't pay anywhere near 75k for that boat.... My .02

Sick Stinger 01-18-2011 04:28 PM

75K might as well leave it in the show room and take the power out its not going anywhere for a while and its been for sale a longgggggg time. Its a great boat and looks killer but price is nuts plus the power is alway i need of toying with.
