Is this TG worth repairing

When I see something like this my gut tells me to run away. But i thought I post it and see what you guys thought. The deal is some years ago previous owner ran into something. It took some decent damage the starboard side. Then someone tried to do a repair and cut a portion of the deck off for better access. The current owner wants to sell it now. Needs motors, drives, interior, and a gimbal to cover the basics. And I'm only calling a Top Gun because that what the current owner has called it. I don't know enough about Cig models to know if this actually a Gun.

Enjoy!

MiniHawk 01-18-2011 04:55 PM

Run dont look back!

They cut holes in the deck once they found out they stored the drugs in there...JK:evilb:

Sydwayz 01-18-2011 04:55 PM

What does he want for it? It would make a nice static yard display. :D

fitler 01-18-2011 04:57 PM

would make a cool tree house like in the movie Step Brothers.

I have to ask how much is he asking and in in his mind how much does he think it's worth?

Well several months ago he was asking $7k for it. The ad was posted without pics. After I got an email with the pics I declined. Well I just got another email saying he still had it and wanted to know if I was interested, but he didn't include a new price. I declined it again, but wanted to see if I was missing something. So far it sounds like the only thing I'm missing is heartache and fiberglass monster posing as a boat eating my wallet. I figure even I got the package for free, and had all the fiberglass work done at cost, I would still be behind on it. Not that its being offered for free, nor do I have fiberglass crew in my yard waiting to work for free.

A little glass, some duct tape, a couple oars, i think it has potential.

Maelstrom TG38 01-18-2011 05:43 PM

I think you have approximately 40K$ to make her being beautiful, and another 80K to rig her like a cig must be........so you'd better run....

automobili_v12 01-18-2011 05:56 PM

This boat sold on Ebay several years ago for around $3500, with trailer, its damaged pretty bad.

omerta one 01-18-2011 06:00 PM

One thing's for certain...it has character.

Its been sitting in the dessert sun baking since then and the interior shows it. I have several more pics I'll post

CigDaze 01-18-2011 06:05 PM

I'm going to go ahead and venture to guess that you don't want anything to do with that!

WTF?!

Makes you sick to see that.

OldSchool 01-18-2011 06:13 PM

Yep, talk about the wrong stuff! Platform might be worth saving.....

CigDaze 01-18-2011 07:01 PM

That might make a cool bar in someone's back yard. That's about it!

It you can steal it for a thousand or less, the swim platform and trailer might pay themselves off, and then you have a cool backyard BBQ bar!

thisistank 01-18-2011 07:05 PM

One stuff after repair and that thing will explode!

cosmic12 01-18-2011 08:37 PM

The trailer has some great patiena:eek:
That is if you want to do it as a Rat Rod:drink:

rlj676 01-18-2011 08:41 PM

If he paid you 7K to take it, you would never, ever be anything less than 10k underwater by the time it was operational!

So, other than wanting to learn fiberglass or have a neverending project, I can't see how this has value for anything more than decoration.

Perlmudder 01-18-2011 08:55 PM

my dog just said RUFFFFFFFF!

MiniHawk 01-18-2011 09:18 PM

It would be a neat looking boat if it wasnt in that condition.

t500hps 01-18-2011 09:19 PM

I'd spend $7K to track the bastard down that left that in my yard!!!!!

DareDevil 01-18-2011 09:26 PM

Are u guys kidding, not for 7 K but if would sell it for 3 K..it can be fixed no problem..its only the deck...not the hull !!!!!
I say to do it right incl engines and such maybe 50-70 K and have a nice boat !!!!!!!

tcelano 01-19-2011 12:10 AM

Yea, definitely not in this market, where there are countless examples of fully operational rigs going for $40-70k. You'll spend that in a heartbeat on that mess, and when you are done you'll be way upside down. Trust me, I've done it, except the hull I started with was in great shape, and I've done a re-rig, with my own labor.

The purchase price of a powerboat is really only a portion of the overall cost of ownership. If money is tight, stay away from a big high-horsepower twin of any vintage, and enjoy boating with something more manageable. You can obviously afford more boat used than new, but not as much as you'd think. (BOAT = Break Out Another $10K)

Now, THAT'S phuckin funny !!! :evilb:

jeff1000man 01-19-2011 12:49 AM

turn it upside down and put it on some poles. Make yourself a covered smoking section.

cigrocket 01-19-2011 07:01 AM

Looks good to me. I think that is a special edition. A little duct tape and should be good to go. :drink:

kreed 01-19-2011 07:45 AM

Zip ties and silicone can fix ANYTHING !!!!:grinser010: run run AWAY.....

Ted G 01-19-2011 07:56 AM

I'd make an offer at 12k. I figure 2-3 weekends with a chain saw and I could get rid of all the pieces in a dumpster. Even a big dumpster would be less than $500 so I'd have 11,500 for my time. Hell, it's winter, I'd take it away for him for 10k, I'm feeling generous.

SS930 01-19-2011 08:19 AM

It might be worth $500. I figure that way I could more than recoupe my money with the swim platform. Plus I'd get the entertainment factor out of dropping it off in my Cig-loving neighbors driveway. I'd have to take pics of it in his front lawn too and send them to him for Christmas as well. :lolhit:

The more I think about it, Kev you should buy it and make another dog kennel out of it! :D

Not a bad idea Scot. But only a select group of dogs would be allowed to stay there.....:eek:

cigarette38topgun 01-19-2011 03:32 PM

That's a sad sight to see. $500.00-$1000.00 is what its worth in my eye's.
