What is the safe max hull speed for that hull 110?

JohnnyZ 01-30-2011 04:58 PM

I don't know, but I do know it will take some monster mills to get it to 110!

Depends on set up I'd say. #6's and huge power with a mild X set-up? You could be "safe" at higher speeds.

I'm guessing 100 tops it's a ruff water hull

I was thinking to myself with 1200HP you would still come up pretty shy.

I could be wrong though...

I had a 1984 flatdeck, with no steps, but it had a 10" notch, 1100hp PSI supercharged 572" BBC, side-by-side with #5's on box's and it would run just a hair over 100mph. I hope this is a fair comparison. I.E. it takes a ton of hp to make a non-step, full cabin Cigarette run into the 100mph range.

My calculation routine shows for a typical straight bottom hull at 11,500 lb all-up weight, and a typical #5 drive setup with wet sump transmissions, you should reach 100 mph with just over 1000 hp/side, 105 mph at around 1150 hp, and 110 mph at about 1255 hp/side.

There are a lot of variables, but that should be close.

Interesting information so far. At what speed does a flat bottom gun become a handful to drive? I'm sure setup is a big part for sure. I remember someone saying the yellow gun that was on national's website was a handful to drive above 100, but it was a step hull.
