TG MPH difference Straight vs Step?

I did a search on this, I know it's in there somewhere.
Same everything say 525s, drives, props. How much faster is the stepped hull?

I have been told 6-8mph

650 hp in a straight bottom can't keep up with a 525hp stepped hull.

I think it is more than that Frank. I would bet 10-12.

I think a 525 Gun will run in the 80's consistently and I don't think a 525 Straight Bottom will see more than low 70's.

straight bottom with 750's will run 85 all day, newer stepped with 700's will run 105. Pretty crazy...

That's a good point too Tony - it isn't linear, certainly depends on power points....

It's not just the steps but the weight of the boat also. The lack of the cabin helps a lot.

My 97 boat with 740s would run 86 (kevlar) my 500efi TSTG ran 80 all the time and 83 when light on everything.

My '96 ran a best of 75, downhill with a tailwind.

That was with 675 Chiefs on 12" Stellings boxes.
