Default 42x_vs 39 Unlimited

Well its time to put the Top Gun up 4-sale and upgrade. Im torn between the 42x with 850's and 6's or the 39 Unlimited with 700's and NXT's... So lets hear it guys whats some pros and cons, help me make this decision...Thanks Farmer Jon

39 with 700's....... About the same speed and a whole lot less maintenance and easier to get rid of when you get ready..

39 with 700's is a great setup. Then its a comparison of a 42 or 46 with 850's and the 46 is the hands down winner there. Been there done it.

Brace Yourself What's the 42x like that is for sale at J&J in port clinton? Brians 39 was unreal when we did last years thunderfest on it ... That's what sold me on the staggered TS.

110+ in a 39 with 700's..........yeah Id say that was a good time.

had a 03 top gun with 750 cobras ran great, now have 39 with 700 runs even better deftinately not 110 more like 103. very nice to work motors good luck!!!

You're probably the only person qualified to answer your own question as you know what you're looking for and want you want from your next boat. But, I do agree the 39/700's will be less hassle and probably have better resale and be a lot easier to move in the future when that time comes.

39/700 boat = 105 very little maintenance (Easier to sell)
42X/850 boat= 107 double the maintenance or more

Both are great in the rough water. 42X has a little deeper cockpit.

if you prefer the look of the 42X but do not want the 850 maintenance and up front cost, do a 42X with 700's. Phil has them running right at 100 with box stock 700's. Both are beautiful boats.
