Default In the market

Hey all. I'm new to the market and hoping to buy over this coming winter. My friend has been pushing me to buy a cig and did a great job of convincing me at the poker run in destin last week. Here are two that seem nice to me but I'm no expert. They are both beautiful and powerful. Any info about design integrity, pros/cons, or better options please share

Try and get a stepped boat with mercury power. Resale and maintence cost will make a boat twice the cost, a cheaper experience then an older 800+hp cig. That's a fact.

This boat would be a wise choice.

Call Brett with performance boat brokerage. He has two listed for sale, one is OSO member Carter38 boat & is very clean, good shape, with lots of updates. Other is a 1997 and runs great, was out in it last weekend and ran flawlessly, it has some good looking paint when in water. Both boats are at or less than the two you placed a link too as of price. Both boats have strong power, updates and will probably run
77-80 MPH. Brett is a GREAT guy. I wouldn't make a move on anything until you look at both of his top guns. Good luck and have fun shopping!!

I don't disagree with this statement. However, the straight bottom cigs are still nice and ride in the rough stuff well. If you can bite off an extra $40-$60k for a TS go for it. If you want to be less than $100k a straight bottom is still a nice running boat.

Also, if you want a nicer cabin and intend to spend the night on it occasionally, you will want to look at the straight bottoms. MUCH nicer cabin. If you really want the extra speed, then look at twin steps.

Lots of us that can't "find another 50k" for a TS boat.

That being said, I would skip on that first one you listed (second link didn't work for me). There are some much nicer boats for sale.

Check out Sea-Dated's CAFE and some of the other stuff that is out there.....

Are you just looking at top guns? Or is a 35 on the table?

I appreciate the plug but my Cafe' is gone. Went to the first person who came to see it.

I agree with what you said about the first gun, the second link didn't work for me either. 800hp motors built by who knows who is just asking for trouble. Stay with Merc power if possible. Will help out tons come resale time.

Dustin's Gun, Carter 38, is a great boat and even though not merc power, Brad Smith built the motors and he is a very well known and reputable builder in the industry.
