Sea Water Pump Question
I have a 90 (TRS) Top Gun and It has the brass style crank mounted sea water pump along with the G.M. water pump on the front of the motors. I want to remove the crank sea pump and the water pump on the motor and just go with standard Mercruiser sea water pumps and do a water crossover tube on the front of the motors...Is there any issue with cooling? I have seen several other Top Gun's running this set up but there are the Bravos .....just wondering if passing through the tranny robs it in any way.
thanks in advance....Joe |
i have a 91 cafe w/ trs & have the same setup you want to use.

The setup will work but you will have to play with thermostats to get the right temps. You will need a bypass if you plan to use a stat. There's really no advantage using a crossover other than looks. You may also have pressure

You may also have high water pressure and will need gauges and possibly relief valves.
