Thanks Mike "Hard Candy" was actually the factory model name for all of the 42 Revolutions, similar to the model names Top Gun, Cafe Racer, Rough Rider, etc. The boat you're talking about in this thread was called "Takeover", & was owned by Bob Porter, one of the brief owners of the actual company Cigarette. The boat was in bad shape for awhile due to getting termites in it, thus rotting out a lot of the transom. It was then purchased & redone. I don't know of it's whereabouts or it's condition today, but I've seen the boat at various times throughout it's life. It was always at Fisher Island when Bob owned it. This is the "Hard Candy" (Takeover) 42 you're talking about: http://img840.imageshack.us/img840/396/pa210063.jpg |
i know where it was as of about a year ago, let me did deep and ill let you guys know
|
Takeover is for sale for $85k right now on cl
|
the boat im talking about is the one from the pics with staggered 1050's and 6's......it could have been bought for $65K last I knew.........
|
Yup it's on cl for 85k while smokin crack I would guess.
|

BLee not to sound ignorant but why have 2 model names? Seems confusing and redundant

Yeah, I always thought "Hard Candy" was just a name someone went with for their boat. I called Phil this morning about something else, & asked him where this boat is now, & he explained to me that they are all named "Hard Candy". I didn't know that previously.

We bought Bobs boat takeover thru lipship back in 2003. We spent 2 years redoing it. Its now the blue one with the big cig logo on the side. Last I knew it was at a salvage yard in northern Michigan with the motors out. It also had hard candy painted on the windshields when we bought it.
|
I have a print out of the Northern MI Craigslist listing for this boat. It says,
"1990 42' Cigarette with twin 600 CID Donovan Aluminum Big Blocks 825 HP Each, No Out Drives. 231-943-8044 (Genes Auto Parts) 23,000......Good luck Mike! Im SURE shes a wave crusher. |

I'm not doubtin' you B. Just saying there was one in So. Cal that had "Hard Candy" with hailing port on the transom as in they named it that as well as the boat model name. Like naming your 38' Top Gun "Top Gun". :drink:
Right, I see what you mean. I always really liked Mr. Cigarette & some of the other that didn't have Disney looking graphics. http://img718.imageshack.us/img718/9490/mrcig.jpg http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/6342/mrcig2.jpg |

Tank the one in texas?
Also the one you posted Kev isnt worth it. From what I gather its long blocks no acc. exhaust drive shaft trannys gimbals or drives. Might as well sadly to say part it and bury the hull. From what I can see afair market price all given as nice shape with 6's with low hours would be 60K-65K stag'd or not. After mine sells i wont be in the market for a few years. House payments my friend house payments....... -Mike |

If it was all together it wouldnt be a bad buy at loe 70's in comparison to others. But with no acc. on the engines no exhaust trannys or drive shaft setup along with drives and gimbals moght as well sell the dash seats ect motors and sad to say burn the hull not worth a repower as it is now unless it was given to you and even at that still might be into it more then just buying a done one with low hours

Been for sale a little while already. Heard it could be gotten for mid'ish 60's. Problem is 900's for one. 2 if you look at the cabing interior its stained pretty good port side. Also from what i have read that it was updated with paint not imron or gel. Plus doesnt diclose how many hours on the drivetrain
|
I bet the staining is from clogged or detached hatch drains. Common problem.
As for the 900's if they haven;t been opened up yet they need to be and the updates are not huge money during a rebuild. Rockers, Cams. If the valve are adjusted every 25 -30 hours and valve springs done every 100. The motors are pretty reliable. This boat should have the updated structure in the engine compartment. 43 Rev's had issues with bottom flex in that area. Factory warrantied problem boats and added chicken feet to strengthen things up. No reported problems after that. I'd say $70-80K for this boat is a pretty decent deal. |
70-80 way to high I see guys trying to give these away and can't no matter how nice or power. I read about one a couple nights ago 850 572 with staggered 4s started at 80 now at 59 b/o

if you are interested, we have a re-gelcoated, new cockpit and cabin interior, panels, gagues, etc, engines, drives, exhaust, 1990 42ft revolution with triple 850hp engines that we should be done with in the next few weeks. It is all red with white interior. The engines just got put in the boat, no hours on anything yet. Father has gotten too frustrated and bored and no longer wants it.
375Stinger was his name. Not sure what ever happened... It was back in '06 that Dad was fed up. :D |

Thanks Mike My father owned this boat in the late 90s and early 2000s. It was an incredible experience for me as a teenager. Any idea where it went? |
