What does this straight bottom from Midwest run for speed?
|
Pretty tough crowd around here. I've been on, in, and through the Spider boat. That boat is amazing in it's fine details, and it's built rock solid. It has a couple thousand hours in paint work alone. Before ye goes casting judgement, let's not judge a book by it's cover. I mean, it's no Outerlimits, ( :D ) but that boat is a one of a kind work of art.

Wow that Orange boat is hott....Very clean!

I think its a pretty sweet boat, too bad its not a stepped hull, still for under a 100K, with #6's, and a Myco trailer its a pretty good deal. Michael |

Anyone remember what the The Donz's Poco Loco boat was asking 2-3yrs ago? It was another 90mph stagger Gun. Or what did FATBOY sell for? And did the Superman boat ever sell?? |

This would be a comparable boat. Not the same but comparable. No question the stagger strait bottom cigs are rare and it's worth what the buyer and seller agree upon. I was turned on to this one today and thought about it before posting it for the masses, but its just not what I am looking for. Figure getting it some OSO exposure will find it a home. Still looking. |
Just curious? What would a flat bottom Cig with 750 a side run for top speed?
Tank: any thoughts on top speed, ride and handling between this boat and one with similar power and a stepped hull? Thanks guys! Michael |
Mid 80's on a good day prolly

Old school has a straight bottom w 6s. Unsure of his power tho
|
I like that orange cig I have a buddy KC looking for a 38 Tg he saw this one and the other Tg in the classis for 75000 but he only wants to spend 65
|
Check out Dustins Carter on the board I think. Not sure on price but a Nice gun.
|
The have dropped the price to 90K, If I could get decent money out of my "little" boat I would be all over it, 80MPH is plenty fast enough for the group I boat with, and I am sure it would take just about any water the lake would throw at it [within reason] and I like the fact it has A/C if I did decide to overnight in it. Sure is a pretty boat!
Thanks for the input on speed, 80MPH is pretty impressive for a boat that size. Michael |
Think he will take 65K cash in a brief case thats why my buddy has. He has the 1 ton dually to pick it up with.
haha -Mike |
Cafe
That is one of my favorite boats. I would be willing to trade my Cafe with fresh motors for this boat and $20,000 cash. Since a brokerage has it, I doubt that would fly.

Tank: any thoughts on top speed, ride and handling between this boat and one with similar power and a stepped hull? Thanks guys! Michael Ride between a flat bottom cig and a stepped cig? I really like the way TS cigs ride in the rough, they seem to cushion a little more on landings compared to the pure crushing power of a heavy straight bottom. That orange gun has been for sale for 3+ years. It's insanely awesome but it was also priced way to high for the market (IMHO). There was a guy looking at my gun and couldn't decide between mine and that orange one (even though i straight up told him id buy the orange obe if it was my choice!) but the owner wouldn't go below 165 because he owed too much on it. At 90k, that's a good buy on that rig. A lot of boat for the money. Of course then you get into the whole arguement of the fact it's still a 20 year old boat that no bank will finance so the buyer will have to pay cash and if someone has that much cash it's not a stretch to to think they'll have a bit more to buy a 525 TS gun that will be faster, newer and a bank will finance. But for straight cool factor the orange boat has the edge!! |
It's a neat boat, all the 90 MPH are, 1 of 5 and only one with #6's. If you don't like the price go buy a bravo boat.
|
There's plenty of #6 boats out there for under $100k, so no reason to buy a bravo boat, just plenty of reason to not buy this one....

Thanks again Tank, I appreciate the help! Michael |
As far as speed of the orange boat, the drives appear to be mounted very wide.....like maybe 38" on center rather than the normal 35"-36". If that's the case, it's not going to help the speed or efficiency of the hull.
|
you are correct... 38" and the boat i'm sure is a turd!!! I know someone who has the same issue, and I don't have the heart to tell him he needs to do a re-rig... if stellings green or similar headers are used, one could run the engines as tight as 33" this is how I got big speed outta my 10 meter fountain!! hi up and tight together!!
|
If that orange boat could be bought for low 70's id be sold. Is one of the nicest straight cigs out there bit in now way is it a speed machine. Its still a staright bottom..........................
|
Both of these boats will sell to people who appreciate the over the top level of detail. I don't think you can compare either of these boats to most other staight bottom Top Guns on the market, the amount of custom work sets them apart.
|
K what about the one in the classifieds for 75 seems to be done very well just not a 6 boat but it does have a Konrad conversion

Seems like a nice boat. I don't think this boat matches the detail level of the other two, and the Konrads vs. sixes issue. I would pay more than 15k extra for sixes over most any drive. Having decent power and not breaking is priceless.
Can I throw my Number Six Top Gun in the mix?:party-smiley-004: There is not as much detail in the paint, but it's a strong running, turn key rig with timeless Cigarette graphics......and a full cockpit & cabin. http://www.offshoreonly.com/classifi...o42966-en.html |
I agree with you guys but 90/100 k for a straight bottom older hull seems a bit high for what it is but I'm not knocking the boats at all I'm a cig guy threw and threw

Well, 80MPH for a guy like me isn't a "Turd", but, I guess there is an awful lot of FAST boats out there! So, 80MPH for some people wouldn't be fast enough to keep them awake! LOL

Very nice high end custom pieces. |

Brace, not fair...lol ! You have always taken the time, energy and most of all money to make great boats, exceptional boats! The steps you have taken from the 1st Ciggy we did to AM were without a doubt huge ones. Your toys were always perfect when you were ''done'' with them....my client is ''done'' with his 38' and 46' Cigarettes...they are turn key, ready to go just as all of yours were....someone will appreciate these boats just as someone appreciated all of yours. These boats are not for everyone, just as yours weren't...alot of guys would like to have either boat, but it will take a client that sees the big picture and knows what kind of moneies are/were spent to make/keep these boat just as your were....perfect! Been awhile since we chatted, hope all is good with you. Marc
