Any 39's out there with 1075's and #6 drives? How does the extra weight of the #6 effect the center of gravity?

bigfarmer 04-22-2012 12:23 PM

A buddy of mine wanted 1075's in his when he ordered his from the factory, Tim from Cigarette told him that the boat won't handle as good as the 700/NXT package. Supposedly the boat will get squirly And hard to handle with that recipe. There was one that spun out that had 1075's but not sure if that had anything to do with it. Personally I'd go with 700's with the stage 2 Whipple package which turns 830hp without changing the CG or ride quality, and would deff be above 110 mark.

nate 04-22-2012 12:24 PM

i started this thread a few days back, has some pictures and links to the two 1075 boats known of. Not sure if there were any others

ROGMAN 04-22-2012 12:47 PM

Aside from "Squirly" at top speed, would the boat still fly level in bigger water while running 60-90 mph?

Kelly - no peer pressure, just trying to catch up to you!!!!!

Boomer35 04-23-2012 06:59 PM

there are more then that, but not listed. I know of one in LG, and also one in LG with 1100's, or maybe its 1350's

I will be your boat ***** anyday if you get a 39, they are by far my favorite boat out there

Apexwarrior 04-24-2012 05:41 AM

Red Matter on the board here has a 39 with 1100's and M8's on LG. While I cant tell you what its like at top speed, I have been on it at 110 and its rock solid.

Not sure I understand why it would be squirrely with those drives. Nor why Cig would build it if it was a problem.

I will see if I can get him to chime in here.

ROGMAN 04-24-2012 06:58 AM

I agree, I don't know about the "Squirley" stuff myself. My question is more looking at the center of gravity, does the boat still fly level with the added weight of the #6 drives?

RockyS18 04-24-2012 01:34 PM

I was on the 39' with 1100s, and it isn't squirrelly at ~118mph.

I just sent RedMatter a text he'll get on soon to answer everyone's questions.

RedMatter 04-24-2012 04:40 PM

Okay I have lots of info on these setups since I currently own an 1100 Turbo/M8 combo 39 that Cig built last year for me after upgrading from the 700 NXT setup from the year before. I also did the Stage II upgrades on the 700's but with limited seat time on the upgrades.

My 1100 set-up boat has awesome acceleration from on-plane to just about any speed. In the upper speeds, like 80, when you hit it she takes off like a banshee to 120. And that is the point......it is still acceleratring at 120. I have only gone about 120 on a number of rides and can honestly say it is rock solid to 120. Have no real info past that because I see no real need to go past that. It is propped for mid range punch and easily delivers.

Last season while cruising at mid 70's with other boats just hitting the throttles puts you back in your seat with awesome acceleration. No other mid-30's foot and larger V-bottom can accelerate with it at these speeds.

That is what I built it for. I love speed but acceleration is more fun when you need it. My 700 '39 boat was fun but mid range to high speed was not as quick. It was topped out in the 105 to 108 range. The Nxt transmissions are the wear spot in that setup, so you must be careful when upgrading power.

The M8 drives on the '39 make a huge difference. They are hydrodynamically more stable than the six drive with the high power and might possibly slow the boat down. But I believe it is a safer combination. Bud at Cig really loves the setup and has said this boat is one of the quickest accelerating Cigs he has ever tested. (And he has tested all of them for 20+ years)

I have 2011 39 with 700's and #6's and love it. The 6 drives make a big difference in the way this boat handles. WOT is 103 -106 drives like a dream. Don't know about the bigger power sure that would be great but I would definitely recommend the #6 upgrade.

Gary

Apexwarrior 04-25-2012 05:39 AM

How much more does the 1100's/M8 combo weigh than the 700/NXT? It cant be much, so I dont see how the handling differs nor how it would upset the boat when it launched. I would think if anything, the M6/M8 drives would help things, not hurt things.

And Red Matter is correct. Bud at Cig raved about the boat when we spoke with him at the Miami boat show.

All 39/700's NXT run 103-106...my Lip-Ship 39/700 NXT

103-106 out of the box. 110 takes some work.

Fastest I've seen a 39 w/t 700 run was 112. On the outside totally stock. The owner wouldn't say whether he did a reflash of some kind .

Had to be turned up. I've ran one and it was a struggle to get past 100.
(Stock that is)

BraceYourself 02-07-2013 04:42 PM

I'd do 700's and 6's in a 39. Plenty fast for rougher water.
Now on a glass lake...more power for sure... but then get a cat.

If you spend the money for 1100's a 46 is a must in my opinion. I had a 46 cig AMII and anything over 100 in actual water was getting dangerous. Crusin the tops then all of a sudden catch a roug wave and you are standing it up. Always came back in ok, but passengers that were new don't fair well. Why I always told passengers this is not a liesure stroll. Read the water and react. It's hangin n bangin.

Bang on Redbud. I can generally see 100 -101 higher speeds (2 mph or so) only in the spring and fall. According to Cig this is where they all run stock. I am temped to try this #6 lower blue print thing.

I'm running NXT's and have considered it. It sounds like blueprinting the 6 can add speed as well as improve handling. The handling would be most important to me. I can already get to 114-116, just takes some driving.

Hahahaha! Nice post! Standing a 46 up must have been a hell of a ride.

I just bought a 07 39 with 700nxt package on July 4, it seemed to be the patriotic thing to do. I could use some advice on how best to set it up to go fast and how best to set it up to conquor the nasty chop of Lake Erie. I had a 39 foumula with 500's and boxes for 12 years and it was a totally different animal. I also could use advice on how to figure out how the gas gauges work with the pie shaped fuel tanks and any other good tips about the boat.

You'll love the NXT/700 package - bullet proof and a great set up for the 39 Unlimited. Fuel goes fast once you get under 1/2 a tank. Definitely start looking for a marina at a 1/4 tank!

Quarter, I was one of the guys that talked to you at your old formula that day in the summer/fall. Nice boat!!

You have any questions PM bigfarmer hes been running a 39TG with same setup on Lake Erie for a bity now ( he was the big guy with us). On a side note are you putting the cig on your old lift, pains me to see that boat left in the scummy water.

I'll give him a shout in few days. The beast goes on the lift first thing and The lift will be moving to Dock of the Bay Marina. Can't go along with the low water in Cast Away Bay. Now just have to find some premium fuel not in casta way and not too far away.

Well let's just say his new boat would have to be brand new and still in the wrapper for Rogman to buy it. I own his old twin step and all I can say is .....wow.

That truely is a beautiful boat. Timeless paint job. Can't wait to see it around this summer. Can't really see the ghosted paint in the pics.

It is a very nice boat with just about every upgrade you can get. Congratulations!
