Default Rev Limiter

Is it possible to bypass or wire out the rev limiter/overspeed assembly on Mercruiser 425 HP's with Thunderbolt IV ignition ?

Hi, I am in the UK with a Cafe Racer. Not sure what a "msd" set up is? Had to fit a replacement Merc rev limiter to the sbd engine last September and am waiting for one to be shipped at the moment from the guys at Powerhouse Marine to replace the port engine which gave up the ghost last weekend!! The engines are 93 build so I suppose they have not done bad.
