Cigarette New Ownership?
#2
I met him when I was down there a few weeks ago. From the short conversation that we had, he seems to be a nice guy. The following is from the Lip-Ship Performance web site......

Skip Braver is the latest entrepreneur to take ownership of the one and only Cigarette Racing Team. Lip-Ship Performance wants to wish Skip a sincere welcome to this unique industry. Skip takes on this prestigious position as a business owner, as a boating enthusiast and better yet, as a Cigarette boat owner. We look forward to working with Skip and continuing our great relationship with the Cigarette Racing Team.

What! New owners at Cigarette! I'm shocked. This company is incredible. They have managed to limp along for years with poor and or criminal management. Thankfully they have an outstanding workforce building a great product. Imagine how they would have performed if management was as qualified as the rest of the company.

Might jump ship from the beak to CIG next year...My dealer said to order right now before the price increase....Sales pitch or reality. If they do a price increase I doubt I will be able to afford it so I will have to decide right now if I am making the switch...Any help is appreciated....

I would almost guarantee that he ( Skip ) will look internally to first cut costs on the actual production dollars spent on each boat.
He will look for ways to become profitable himself as a builder, then later on look for ways to keep his dealers profitable, perhaps with * gasp * volume incentives. This, in general, is the automobile manufacturer way of thinking, which he obviously has knowledge of and experience with being a prior auto dealer himself.
Who are you dealing with, Select ?
