One runs like it's on rails and the other runs like it's on marbles. Your choice, but do yourself a favor and have your client run them both. You never know what you'll like until it's done. Like they said in "Days of Thunder"..... Loose is fast!!! :D

member?? says you're registered under your name and yes it is a dumb question to come into the Cig forum and ask a bunch of guys who in this forum own a cig if a outerlimits is a better boat. being that you're a cig owner and you have so much experience and so much knowledge that one would know that comparing a boat that goes 85 tops to one that goes over 100 in my view is a dumb question. asking about a cig with 700's compared to a outerlimits with 700's might be a better comparison. if you need a bunch of guys on here to tell you there is no comparison for educational purposes then u need to take at look at yourself in the mirror and stop being a dipchit. Never said i was smarter then anyone but if your client needs education on the 2 boats then have him talk to a guy who knows what he's talking about. as for you thinking i'm a cigarette hitler, seeing that i've owned a couple and they still are one of my favorite boats, i'd take one over a outerlimits any day. ol are badass but 2 totally different boats but you seem to know that already but funny your client needs confirmation from guys in the Cig forum! u must be a good salesman!!
If extreme top speed was my objective I would have gone with the OL. Good friend has a 47 GTX with 1200 Teague power boat runs 124 MPH and looks great. The 39 Cig w/700’s runs low 100’s and is smooth as glass but will never be the first boat to the card stops. BTW - post #2 is bang on! |
one thing you may want to take into account is a 39 gtx (or) 40 as you call it will have horrible resale... you better hope you like it, chances are you will own it for ever.. i have been in the boat your talking about... ride in it first, its fast but a scary ride.. then ride in the cigarette... on the down side with the cig with 525s its under powered and would probably be pretty boring.

The common misconception is that Ol is in the same league as Cigarette. It is not. Few boat manufacturers are. Do they build a good boat? I think so, but like any other boat manufacturer, they have their negatives as well. I have ridden in more than a few Ol's , from a 37,39,42 to a newer 52 SV. There were some things I loved and some things that I found unacceptable. But, that's me. Your client might like the 39 Ol GTX for its cool looks or its speed.
However, in this case, dealing with 2005 era boats, I personally like the Cigarette better for its build quality, usability and easier resale when it is time to say bye-bye. P. S. To my knowledge, there was only 1 40 GTX built. It has Ilmors and is very nice. |
It really is comparing apples to oranges, a gtx should be compared to a gladiator or Maximus. 39 unlimited vs 39 Quattro is the right comp...

Have you actually been in an Outerlimits?
Not saying anything negative about OL.... Just that it's a "different" feeling while running than a Cig. Different strokes for different folks!! :) |
Why not throw in a 43 Sunsation to the mix...:party-smiley-004:
