After taking out my new purchase it's time to make it right. The gembles need replacing. Took off Everything on the out side of the transom last night. One gemble Looks like I can rebuild it the other is still do be determined.
Taking both drives to get opened up and gone through next week. Motors are coming out next week hopefully also. Transome plates will be removed to insure the gembles are done right and going to reseal the transome plates to the transome.
The bilge will be cleaned up. Was painted about 3years ago with the freshing of the motors. The wires and hose's were not neatly done. Just kinda laying around in there randomely mounted. Also going to change out the water pickups. Has the original through hull still on there. Hopefully no more surprise will be found while doing all of this.

Got the drives off. Oil looked great, but found a surprise.

Original water pickups..... Have to go! Along with the speedo.

And the surprise found on the drive oil drain plug! Both drives headed to Allan marine in baton rouge. One of the beat and lat TRS people.

Bummer...........but a pair of 540's pushing a pair of old TRS drives..........probably shouldn't be a big suprise. I'd get you some Konrad's. I saw a pair of konrad trs conversions on craigslist here http://dallas.craigslist.org/ndf/boa/3035773555.html

If you want to watch something of interest and on topic go to www.mercurymarine.com/.../mercruiser-products/ or Google mercury repower or mercury remanufacture. Kinda cool. Chris.

Motors are undone ready to come out. Daral Hughes (powerplus marine) pointed and handed me tools for a few hours. He's helping me with this rebuild. Went very well no surprises. Waiting on the hoist to free up to pull them out.
