1986 Cigarette 28 "Time Machine" Mint w/28 hours!
Cruising Ebay tonight and this popped up....
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CIGAR...item2a207304c5 No affiliation, just thought others might like to see what appears to be an all original 1986 28 in almost new condition. Have a great night, Dave |
That's cool. Luv the original look of the Cigs.
|
very cool... love the classic lines of the old cigs. forty nine five as an opening bid... you can get a lot of boat for that kinda chinga' chinga'... best of luck to the seller....
|
the guy is dreaming at 49,500. Cut that starting bid in half and he would get some bids.
|
i think he broke out the "5 grand in a can" and went to town on the engine compartment

I wouldn't be so sure of that. If that boat is all original and in very nice, almost new condition, very possible to the right buyer.
Besides, if a Lip Ship Restoration of a CIG 20/24/28 lists for around $100,000... shouldn't a like new all original be worth more? You can restore or rebuild anything...but you can't recreate an all original preserved example of anything. This boat is for a collector, not for JQ Public...and IMHO priced accordingly. Also the price will hopefully keep it out of the hands of someone who would just buy it and start modding it and destroy the originality of something so rare. Of course, that is IF it is as it is represented.. but judging from the pics it certainly appears to be. Here are some pics...wanted to snag these before the auction (and pics) disappears. http://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-gB.../s720/28-2.JPG http://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-Pk.../s640/28-4.JPG http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-6h.../s720/28-3.JPG http://lh4.googleusercontent.com/--B...s640/28-14.JPG http://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-wY...s640/28-15.JPG http://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-zq...s640/28-10.JPG http://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-Xa.../s640/28-1.JPG http://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-s3.../s640/28-8.JPG http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-bv.../s640/28-7.JPG http://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-4u.../s640/28-5.JPG http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-QV...s640/28-16.JPG |
That is a beauty!
|
That boat looks brand new. Very nice. I think the owner did drop the price some. I thought it was listed closer to 60 or 80 on the other thread. I bet if he waits long enough owner could get 35-40K for it.
|
Curious to what price a "new" cig 28' went for back in '86?......I suspect double the asking price.....no?

I made a deal with Cigarette if I raced it I could have it for $28,600. I built my boat and went racing that year. |
Interesting Cig........28's have a great ride!

Agree, to the "right" buyer who wants possibly the only like new unmolested CIG 28 in the world..$49K is a bargain.

Hey,i am the owner.Yes the boat is as represented. Thanks for your practical views ,so maybe I should hire you to write my ad. I have always enjoyed exotic cars and toys and this boat is a joy to own and operate. if you ever in NY give me a call and I can share the fun on the water.
Welcome to OSO! Kudos to you for keeping that 28 in such pristine condition, it is very impressive! I would be happy to write your ads....LOL...all it would cost would be a ride in such a beautiful CIG! Hmmmm...I need to come to NY in the next few months and would certainly jump at the chance to take you up on your gracious offer. It would also be great to take some high resolution photos of your boat inside and out while I am there. This could prove to be invaluable for anyone wanting to restore a 28 in the future. IMHO, this boat should be on display at Cigarette and taken to the boat shows etc. Have you considered giving them a call? Just a crazy thought on a Sat morning. Very cool about exotics cars, I build performance parts and Twin Screw SC kits for a certain rare German "Exotic" that is no longer made. Hopefully we can meet some day and talk about boats, cars and such....on and take the 28 out if you still have it. :-) Best of luck with the sale, if I were not knee deep in some product developments for my company, and also not in the middle of restoring my CIG 24...you and I would be having some serious "discussion" about your boat. If you sell it, I do hope the new owner respects the originality as you have. All the best, Dave |
Hi.
My offer stands on the ride. I am in Blue Point, Long Island and the # is 917-7483621, when you are in the area. |
Speed with the 330's? 75mph?
|
28 a great ride

I would say the current owner bought it out of MI for way less. Heard it had some title issues.

Where did this boat end up?
