Squadron vs. TG

What's the difference between an early 80's 39' Squadron XII and a standard TG. And how come there are virtually no Squadron's around?

I know of three 39' Squadron's.....

Ive ridden in the "Dry Martini" Squadron......seemed heavy, but gave a solid dry ride. Personally, I cant see a difference, but the Squadron is 1ft longer, and has a pretty big engine compartment. What Top Gun are you comparing it to? An 80's top gun or newer model, like a T/S?

Comparing it too the 86-90 TG. Seems to be the closest comparison. Big engine compartment is nice! Just wanting to know if it's Cigarette quality honestly.

squadron will be heavier, and has a different strake setup.
Very few were made, as the Cig contract w/ don was just for a short time.
IIRC, don was only able to make 12 boats a year under it.
There are a bunch of threads here about the Squadron XII's.

While that boat is cool in it's own right, the Top Guns you are comparing it too are a drastically more "modern" feeling boat in cockpit/cabin.

Not an expert on the topic, but just looking at the pics appears the engine bay is much longer and the cabin deck much shorter on the squadron.

Agreed. Been a good education. Odd looking boat actually. You'd think with that size engine room, it's be staggered.
