The perfect size and rarity of the 33's is hard to beat. What you're doing to that boat is going to be nothing short of awesome! |
Many of the same reasons mentioned already. My wife's response when I asked her this question tonight.... "Cigarette powerboats are just sexy, who doesn't want sexy?" I think that sums it up!:evilb:

Funny, just the kind of comment HD types make about more modern, better engineered bikes. I have nothing bad to say about Cigs, loved the one I had, and admire their lines and the brand - it's just too bad that the entry level price has dropped to ten grand or so and the manners of some owners have dropped with it. Come to think of it, I go to a lot of exotic car functions and I've never heard a Ferrari owner say any other exotic sucks.

Calm down, dry your eyes, you need a tissue?... OLs are nice boats. IT was mostly a joke. You seem very important - you go to exotic car functions - WOW!!! Where are you now the polo club?

Cigarette really set the bar, they created the market and it was the brand promotion that made it a house hold name. I love all the offshore boats I think some are better then others and some do certain things better. With that being said I love how the Cig looks when it is sitting at the dock it just draws you in. I have seen little kids to grandmothers taking in by them it's just the way it is.

There is something about a Cig, even though mine doesn't have the killer paint job, just kind of a classy look it made the cover of the upcoming Sportboat Magazine and trust me there were some amazing looking boats at Desert Storm. Hell i bet my entire boat didn't cost as much as some of the paint jobs on other boats.
|
That's pretty cool. Yea! I can't see them putting a Baja on the front cover. LOL

I recently left the ranks of Cigarette owners and, while I loved my Cig for what it was, I am absolutely thrilled with my new (to me) OL. Someone equated Cigarette to Ferrari. As a Ferrari owner, I would say the comparison is more fairly to HD, and the relationship of my Old Cig to my new OL would be comparable to a HD to a Ducati. Cig has a great history and has done a fantastic job of capitalizing on its brand such that anyone should be proud to own one; that being said, there are other, lesser known makes out there that have made some performance innovations that are very attractive. My $0.02.
So, what would that make Ol? I would compare older ones to Lambo (before Audi took over)and newer ones to Lambo( after Audi took over). Quality much improved and consistent with a lower production hand built item. |

Pretty sure he wants us to know that he is the best, his Ducati is the best, he has an exotic car and hangs out with guys with Ferraris and lambos and that his OL is so awesome it makes him have an accident in his pants. |
Why come on a Cig thread and talk about how great your OL is? Doesnt make sense. If we were OL lovers we wouldnt own Cigarettes.
|
a Cigarette is just dead sexy, it doesnt matter what year or model. Its a "Cigarette"... If you dont have one, you want one. Nuff said

Just took delivery of my 39 TGU on 7/4. Replaces my 382 Foumula with 500 EFI and boxes. Must say the Cig rides way better than the Formula on Lake Erie. I thought the Formula rode well, but the Cig rides better at 10-15 mph faster. Even my wife, who would prefer a 39 Sea Ray, thinks it rides better. Having said that, the boat takes more effort to drive than the Formula and wanders so much at idle that I look like a drunk. As for performance it is really fast the formula was 77 -78 80 for the Cig 80 is a casual push of the throttle and so far 97 is as fast as I have had it. I'm sure with a little work and a little more chop I'll be in the tripple digit club.

The boat is here in CT. He will be using it in Long Island Sound. The funny thing is the boat was sold new here from Ocean Performance. Now about the Baja stuff I had one 10 years ago and it was a great boat. No stress cracks no issues what so ever I loved that boat, but truth be told once I went for a ride in a Cigarette in rough water I had to have one. It is that simple the ride won me right over. The Baja has a much bigger cockpit and is probably a more user friendly boat, it is definitely better hangin out on it. But when it comes to the ride quality it is Cigarette hands down IMO.

Your old 320 force is nothing like the 36 outlaw, I took 2 topguns out last year (94 and 98) both real nice clean boats (and both still for sale), I have to admit the engine compartment was done real nice but as for as fit and finish for the rest of the boat it's the same. I've never had any problems with either Baja I had. Built with same parts, hand laid fiberglass, bolsa core in bottom and sides, plexus bonding for hull to deck with threw screws, 502mpi, Gaffrig gauges, Mcleod electric seats,Kiekaefer controls, Vacuflush toilet, Custom paint in gel coat, snap in carpet, s.s rub rail, heavy duty pop up cleats, a/c and Ref which Cig doesn't have, both are actual size listed unlike fountain and formula.I know Cigarette has a great hull and that's why I origanally looked at them but 36 OL has more cockpit space , cabin is set up better and Cig designed the hull. Just Doesn't say Cig. I know alot of people like to trash Baja but thier build process is the same as the others, they just built more boats than all the others. Lower costs =sell more boats=best selling performance boat ever. Cig will always be #1 just like Harley but their are other options. Baja has a huge following.:party-smiley-004:

Ok back on task. I would love for Baja owners to defend their boats but this is a forum about What is it about a Cigarette?!!! I don't know what goes on on the Baja thread but I'm sure it is just titillating conversation about how great they really are. Great!! Cigs is what I want to hear about !!!!!
