Hawk motors was owned by Craig Barrie around the time he was running cigarette (late 80's / early 90's) lots if guns and cafes and revolutions had hawk power around that time. I know nothing of the 540 hawk but there's plenty of guys on here that had the 525sc hawks in their boats. Motors were fine but just like with anything - motors that are 20+ years old are going to need to be Gone through and if they have been rebuilt at least one time already then really you should be looking into who rebuilt them and with what. Ya dig?

Regarding the boats themselves, there was no difference in build compared to a non hawk powered cig. Same boats but with hawk power and sometimes the big hawk on the bow.

Cafe & 540 Hawks factory setup

Thank's..I know but at according to Cig..brochures the top of the line setup was the 540 Hawk setup after the 511 Hawk and Seedmaster III setup..just wanted to find out how many of the 100something Cafe's had the 540Setup and as power dictates pricing how much these would go for now, as being the most attractive factory setup available at the time?

A friend of mine up here, Tommy Sperl, had a 540 Hawk Cafe built around 1988. It was called Silverado after his previous 460 Merc powered 35 Mistress (Mistress was originally built as Dollar Bill). He didn't have it long, he then built a 54 Bertram SF and won the record for most Marlin's caught in a single year.

My 86 came from Cig as a 540/SSM III boat. I was told they only made 2 of them that year. They did not make many of them and you usually can tell them apart because they have the blower style engine hatch. If they came with 3's they raised the engines 3 inches to get the x-dimension right as the speedmasters are longer than a TRS. Hope this helps.
