Big Farmer. Do you have any photos of your bottom with and without the wedge.

Would love to see pics too! SO it seems like its a 'mini' pad on the keel near the transom?

My old formula 272sr1 had wedge in the hull from the chine to the first spray rail. Built up about .5 inches. With that the hull never hopped.
My 84 flat deck is rock solid at any speed unless over trimmed. But the hull is stuck like glue when on glass. She needs a hell of a chop to free up but i'm carying a couple more pounds than a TG.

Location of this wedge? I'll plane a piece of UHMW and epoxy it on and sand it out and experiment with it before i go too nuts

Your boat never porpused when I ran it...I really think it may just be over trimmed...I wouldnt change a thing

I'm kinda thinking the same thing. My old straight hull 38 Fountain with SSM IV drives, will porpoise alot under 70mph if I get trim happy. Your trying to lift the hull out of the water on the drive angle alone at low speed, with not alot of help from the lifting strakes. Get that thing going 70, 80, 90 mph, then start lifting those drives out, the boat will carry itself real well. The extra thrust on the transom, combined with the help from the lifting strakes, is why it will stop porpoising as speed increases.

I think alot of guys try to get into these large 38+ft long offshore boats, and try to run them like 23ft boats. You can trim a short boat up at lower speeds, and with the right props and what not, she'll carry the nose along in flat water.

I've found the sweet spot of drive/tab settings, where the boat likes to cruise. Hint, its not where I get the best GPS readings. The only times my drives go positive, is when Im running hard, above 70-75, or purposely trying to increase the rooster tail effect for spectators. The rest of the time, they are level, give or take a click. I sacrifice the few mph cruising, for a better ride. After all, isnt that what cruise mode is all about!
