Problem is, insurance is going to require a current survey on the boat anyway. so you end up having to deal with it no matter how you look at it. Just another hassle. Best to check it out yourself, and yes Tres is a straight shooter, and if he said its ready to go, I think you are set! good luck with the boat

Unfortunately, the majority of professional surveyors are very out of touch with performance boats in general. Especially up here in the North East.
We've got a guy up here that sounds very similar to what you had experienced. He's an older gentleman, show's up smoking a pipe, walks around the boat, puffs a few times, says hmmm between puffs, taps here and there with a little hammer and jots down random notes such as need a longer anchor chain or something... Rarely is there any info of substance.
At least in the state of Florida, you've got Ed Cozzi to give an accurate and complete survey!
