I am shooting for Thursday or Friday. Friday more likely. I will give you a call when i get back up that way. Back to the boat, that would be a great speed gain!

-When I had the TRS drive on my old Top Gun, I could not get any life out of the lowers when running 4 blades. Broke the rt hand pinions on a regular basis. The 25 Mirage Plus worked pretty good.

Tim,
I have a pair of labbed 24 pitch 4 blade Bravos that came with my boat. Boat had similar power and TRS, these are freshly labbed props, I was told boat ran 76mph, who knows. You would have to put hubs in them, but you are welcome to try them out. I doubt I will use them. I would probably keep them for spares out on the water or let them go for a reasonable price to a fellow Cig buddy.... Let me know if you want them, they are sitting in my basement collecting dust. |

I broke two TRS lowers when I had my Formula 402 in less than 25 hours behind 600s. First time was with Maximus 5 blades(knew it was a bad idea but boat liked em), second time was with 4 blades. I tried some 25p mirage plus' but boat wouldn't plane with them. Otherwise that's what I woulda ran to try and save the drives. Like biggus said, it was always the RH lower.
A friend of mine ran 700HP in front of trs in a 30ft scarab. He really never had drive issues. I think his key was he underpropped the boat slightly, spinning his engines to 6000 at wot. Took some of the torque load off the drives. He ran 25 or 26p hydromotive 4 blades. Either way the increase in power should be nice! |
Yea, I know I will be starting to push limits, at same time TRS can be a strong drive, the engines make power t 5200, designed for reliability, there can be so much more there if I want it.... but I like the 600 mark figure that's about breaking point of blowing chit up...of course anything can happen though!!

I think the key with them is keeping them in the water. If memory serves me right, its the RH lower that usually goes because where the gear is located compared to the LH lower. The housing itself flexes and gear usually breaks a tooth.
They are good drives. My buddy's had them on his scarab iii behind 420's for many years. Boat has 1500 hours, drives were rebuilt once I believe. |
