85 Mistress mid summer repower.....:)
My 85 Mistress has 460 MArk IV engines with a few small mods, ran a best of 64.8 one time, I wanna see over 70.... anything over 70 will make me happy...
So, I grabbed a buddys old boat that has 565CI 600hp engines, aluminum heads and all the good stuff, made approx. 650 ftlbs waiting on dyno sheets in mail from last owner...TRS boat... I am going over a few thin gs and making them the way I want them, using my crossovers, exhaust and such.... ran boat home from island yesterday and had engines out by 10PM.... hope to be back in 2 weeks.... last slow drive by..... 60mph flat water....click first pic for slow video, at least shes LOUD... lol http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/...ps3f2a4d78.jpg http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/...ps57f9b2ca.jpg http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0915de3b.jpg http://i1276.photobucket.com/albums/...ps002ae859.jpg |

broke an axle in cleveland. limped it to Benders shop. he lifted the boat off the trailer for me and took the trailer to get 3 new axles made at his friends shop. should be done by the end of the week. gotta run back out and drag it home
|
Good luck with the re power. 70 is plenty fast on the Great Lakes 90 percent of the time.
|
Going to be another week, the builder did not realize Inconel was a good idea, so I ripped them down and I am doing heads real fast, should be putting engines in Sunday if all goes well, be in next weekend I hope!!
|
Lookin good.... see ya out there soon
|
Force, the cherry pickers go high enough to get em out of the boat? They jacked all sky high?

Force should hit over 70, cherry picker wouldn't do it when we pulled 502's out. My project is moving slower than I want. Wifes busting my balls about not running this year. Going to look at a 72 magnum sport this Sunday boy she's gonna be pissed but she didn't say what we were going to be running in!!! The stuff we do to keep our better halfs happy.

Bummer. FWIW, never found Hydromotives to work on a Cig. A pair of 25 Mirage Plus 3 blades would be my choice.

When I ran Scarab back the guy said trans had a leak, I looked at it, looked wet on top bu the vent, I figured he was just over filling, there was also gauges for pressure, well once I lost fluid enough it slipped a little in Scarab, put fluid in seemed ok but didn't beat on it, figured all was well, so I put it all in Cig, was fine went slowly to 4200, slipped, so I throttled back, checked fluid, looked good and clean, then would not go past 3000 then slips, so I guess when it slipped in Scarab that was it.... so out comes STBD. engine this Tuesday... Then to top it off, wiped axle in trailer, so ya today sucked!!! |
bummer!! been down that road before... on the 90.. Mentor exit to be exact lol

I had a axle snap on my 89 myco. Got it directly from dexter for like 125 bucks or so. Few years back now.
|
The whole axle? 6" drop?

Yes sir. Actually they warrantied the axle since it broke at the weld where the spindle meets the tube. It was a drop axle. I had to pay the 125 or so, then send the old failed weld in, and they reimbursed me. Not bad considering it was a 1989! They said that it was considered a manufacturing defect. Myco wanted like 400 plus shipping for the axle. Dexter built it and had it to me in a few days
|
Yea same style. I don't have any of my dimensions handy, but it was a 5200lb drop style. Just came with the brake flange and I had to reuse my drums/bearings, etc. my trailer is a 1989 myco triple axle steel, 6 on 5.5 drums, etc.
