What would a 94 38 top gun with brad smith 750hp blower motors run for speed and how reliable are the motors.
Also how do the old hulls ride compared to the new ones.
I'm looking for a fast wave crusher but not to much $$
Thanks

Our old 94 TG ran right at 80 with two people in it and half full of fuel. Twin 735 HP blower motors. That was with SSM 3A's and transmissions, Bravos will be faster, but with that much HP, you'll need some IMCO or Teague parts to gain drive life.

From what I hear those should be as if not more reliable than any other 700's. trs boat will run 80-82 but prop slip will be a little high unless it has nose cones. 3a's maybe slightly faster, bravos will be slower because they will be broken.

Would said boat by chance be listed in the classifieds on OSO? If so, would it by chance come with a gooseneck trailer? If so, the guy that built the boat reads this forum everyday. He could get you the exact info you look for.

Your old boat flirts with 100mph! Think we are going to do 6's next year!

Straight Bottom Guns with more then 500HP are Bravo Eaters. Save yourself the headache and by a SSM boat.[/QUOTE]
I'm a big believer in the way it's driven. Not trying to start a pissing match, but I've been around many guns with 500+ hp and have had one myself with 750's. I broke 1 in 3 years.

It also depends on the water conditions and the driver. I do believe that you could make them last, But standard Bravos were never designed to hold more then 500HP and then you factor in the weight of the Top Gun. If you drive it hard or pop out of the water and don't throttle back, you could toast one. Anyway you look at it, the ride of the straight bottom gun is worth it.
