Is there any benefit in putting ext. boxes on a 35 non stepped hull.

I've got 12" ext. boxes w/SpeedMaster #5's on a Cafe. #5's are a short drive so I needed the boxes to get the prop's further away from the hull and in cleaner water. The setup works fine. Looks much better than the TRS setup that I replaced.
