I remember you and I talking at length about this years ago. There were a couple different brands and lengths that fit into our criteria. The Mystique was one of them.

We finally got into a Bullet. This size boat is perfect for us. When you factor in towing and storage it's just the right size for our needs. The Mystique would obviously be the ultimate version in the size range.

Anyone know this boat? What will it run with the 502 EFI motors. Been looking at this one for a long time and really itching for one of these boats.

Thanks for any insight.

I was just at LipShip's and Phil has a 06 that he is upgrading a lot of things too. You might want to give him a call...this might be the boat you are looking for!

The whole thig about the 30'snwas they were supposed to be affordable entry level models so cig only offered them
With the black motor package. Except for Enrique's boat that was made special. So you'll be hard pressed to find a vice with anything but black motors. I think maaaaaaaybe there was another built but that's it. I'm
Sure Phil is going to put something cool in the 2006 model he has. Be interesting to see his updates.

Biggus 02-05-2015 06:37 AM

Lipship sure did a nice job when they built mine, I'm sure the Vice Phil is doing will be a work of art as always.

Like most of us, I do think about upgrading every now and then (Peter Roberts teases me with 36 Nortech deals...) I might consider selling but really like the boat and it fits well for what we do with it. The smaller size is a huge bonus.

Kurt's boat is CLEAN!!!!!!!!! and great looking. From all 4, by far the best looking one. Have to see it in person; Picture don't justify it.

Stormrider 02-05-2015 08:50 AM

Any of these would be sweet w/ a pair of Ilmor 570 V8s.

Hemi 02-05-2015 11:12 AM

There was a yellow/blue/teal T/S Mystique with 500efi's at the Annapolis boat show in 2002, very nice looking boat! I think its the one tcwcar said was in NJ and posted the interior pic of in post 40. I remember falling in love with it back then. I took digital pics of it back then. But, I was only able to find a collage I made of the photos and there low quality(it was 13 years ago). Better than nothing for the record. I also remember being blown away by the price, It was alot!

I've taken the Mystique to LOTO the past two years for the Shoot Out. Spending about 10 days on the lake when there. It handles big water really well. Just got to stay on top of it, she flies level. It's a hoot!

Yep.

The other is a mystique not a vice. I was specifically speaking about the vices. I remember beng at the powerboat mag headquarters and talking to Jason Johnson about the vice when they were just building the first. The whole thing was they wanted to make an "affordable entry level boat" and the original plan was to only build them strictly with 496's and bravos to save on cost.

But, when customers demand bigger power like Enrique you do what they want.
Problem in the long run is it doesn't cost "much" more to build a 38 gun that sells for 3x's the rice as it did to build the 30 so the whole thing fizzled. Kinda along the same lines as the gladiator capped and shaved down deck just cost to much to build compared to price point. That's why you (or cig rather ) gotta love the 50ss. At roughly a mil each cig makes some good coin on them for just just a bit more bow. ;)

Gordo 02-07-2015 06:27 PM

CThe one that was asked about in post 60 looks like the one that was at Tres Martins about 6 or 7 years ago?
I think Nick and I both looked at it there.

Joey that boats been for sale forever, never seen it in person but by the pics it looks real ruff, look like its salt and weather ridden, also the transom pic looks like they tried to do so work to fill in some of the notch transom, they were doing that to the early mystiques that had notched transom to try to take away some of the porpoise problems.. Here's some more pics, ..in your search don't leave out the Cigarette Vice same as the T/S Mystique different name and interior but the same haul...

314joey 02-07-2015 09:22 PM

TC, I agree in the pics I can see it looks to salt abused, the K-planes looks eaten up a bit and if they didn't take care of something as simple as that what's the rest of the boat look like.

If the boat was in primo shape it might be worth what they're asking, but to pay that and have to put $20-30K into it is crazy, JMO.

We're buying a condo at LOTO that only has a 30' slip and the dahm rules don't allow any stick outside the drip line of the roof, so we're docking our 353 Formula at a marina a mile by car from the condo and if I can't bribe and buy a larger slip from someone in our complex in the next 12 months I'll probably sell the Formula and look for some type of 30' boat and the Mystique fits the bill perfect.

We're keeping our place in SWF, so it won't kill me to get a 30' boat, especially if it's a Cig.

Thanks for the help and input.

Boomer35 02-07-2015 10:01 PM

Buy a mystique or vice. If you can't find one or don't want to pay the extra money for the name and ride buy a 35' fountain, they are hard to beat dollar for dollar. I owned a mystique for 7 years, tied up to a 35 fountain or 2 a few times.... if you know a 30 mystique can fit at the dock, I promise you a 35' fountain will.. my cig measured 31' from bow to stern not including the swim platform.

314joey 02-07-2015 11:12 PM

We all know all boats aren't created equal and if and when I get rid of my 353 a cig would probably be the only boat I would get, I'm not a beak guy.

315duramax 02-08-2015 12:59 AM

what is the difference between a vice and a t/s mystique?

I think the Vice was a bit more stripped down than the Mystique (1/2 cabin etc) as Tank mentioned, it was supposed to be an entry level boat. Our T/S Mystique has a full cabin with a bed up front.

Brad 02-09-2015 08:25 AM

Mystique are prone to porpoise, be sure to test drive. T/S did not have the same issue.
