Remember everyone "ported and polished" intake runners. It turned out the fuel liked to stick to the runners. Leave them rougher, a little turbulence keeps it flowing instead of evaporating on the walls of the runners. Maybe they have a theory there....??

yep

It would be interesting to put a camera in the chambers and do a side by side test along with comparative Dyno statistics to get to the bottom of the theories.

I guess I put my trust in a few guys telling me tonuse afr, and also afr themselves, I don't think there is any issue with how they are done...

Don't think you could go wrong either way. AFR makes a great product. What are the differences in chamber design in a boosted vs. NA setup if any? Can you get away with more in a boosted setup whereas an NA setup is a little more sensitive to "tweaks" or refinement?

Not exactly sure on that, both dart and afr are nice heads Brodix also.... I went with afr due to recommendations from multiple party's...

The concept of CNC "chamber porting", is about improving airflow , mainly at lower and mod lift numbers. As well as providing a possibly better "swirl"within the chamber.

"Polishing" the chambers was what many did with as cast heads, esp with supercharging , to eliminate hot spots in the chamber that could possibly induce detonation.

Some used to polish piston tops to a mirror finish. They thought it would be better for reflecting heat off the piston . turned out that was a farce, and they actually found a rougher surface allowing carbon to coat the piston, resulted in a cooler running piston.

The finish of the surface after the cutting tool, IE, shiny vs dull, is not a testament to the quality or performance of the cylinder head in my opinion.

Was waiting for you to chime in, also was reading the AFR exhaust ports thread. Didn't you comment extensively on another cylinder head thread? That was also interesting reading.

Yea I am sure any Cnc name brand head is a good choice, comparing to pro comp I can for sure say the afr is heavier that proves the "cheap casting" to be true in a pro comp
