Bob said to me that 685-700 should be easy to see now the thing is at 6000 that may happen but if I can't get them to 6000 in boat what's the point? I should have kept the stimp puller cams I had because the old engines only made 598 hp and 660 tq boat went faster with those...

As far as changes I don't see much of any due to cash flow... Advancing or retarding cams I am told will not increase anything enough to bother with it..

Might see it on dyno but not in the boat.

What number are/were you expecting Tim?

Are you guys going to just make pulls or will there be changes other than basic timing and fuel curve?

Well, let us know how the dyno session turns out. It will be interesting to see what the engines do.

I have no hard feeling with you bro!! I think your cam will be fine, little big but its not to crazy, I bet it will make power to around 6500 on the dyno. The spring is eating up a little power too, but it's not 200lbs anymore they lose about 20-25lbs after you break them in. I would drop down to a 170lb spring, that will be right at 145-150 after break in.

That seems like a lot of spring to run for 200+ hours before replacing lifters. You might want to change them out at 100-125hrs to be safe.

You can alway drop to a 1.6 or 1.5 ratio rocker to take some lift away (assuming that is the spec with 1.7)

What was your cranking PSI again Tim?

But Yes if I was doing that cam with bob I would have probably kept it around 232/236 .650 lift..... (From the top of my head without researching all your data) I have always made better power going to the smaller side of the cam than the larger for the application.

Your biggest challenge is these motors are in a big heavy boat. Minor changes would help if one of these motors was in a 24X7 hull but it will take pretty significant power changes for you to see it on the water. Significant changes usually require significant money.

Thats why its even more important to have the right combination of parts from the beginning. My old engines made 850HP and when I rebuilt them I had new cams made that were 15 degrees smaller as well as a few other changes and made 75hp more. In the water the boat runs the old top speed 600 rpm sooner with a lot more still in it.

Right which is why I am not gonna change until refresh time. The money isn't there I just pulled valve covers to check things and all looks fine so far, no beating of the valves at this point so I gotta just run it

I thought Brian and bob where partners in a company? Am I wrong? Not trying to start anything just the way Brian was always talking that is how it came across.
