Sounds like fun. Would love to do that trip..

Ok, all you Cigs interested, figure some dates out. Fario Blanco would be the place to dock and stay for more than 3-4 boats. They could handle15-20 easily. There is a new Hyatt there now. Plus protected docks. Lots of easy day trips to islamorada or Key West. The gallion key west could also handle a big group, but the day trips are limited.

Are we talking over the Worlds weekend in Nov?

How about the week of Thanksgiving? The wifes a teacher, makes it a little time restrictive.... or around Christmas? before/after?

I hope to send my Cig down for the winter. A run after November sometime sounds good to me.

FWIW chaps:
We had about 9 ATs running out of the the Westin in Cape Coral for a 4 day weekend this past March. http://www.westincapecoral.com/ http://www.tarponpoint.com/index.php/the-marina We took day trips to different locations, and returned each night to reserved slips, excellent facilities, and our trucks/trailers were all onsite. I love the boating in the Keys, but this was the first time I explored the West Coast of Florida in my boat. It was AWESOME. There are dozens of places you can go, and plenty of safe areas to boat in protected waters; especially in inclement weather. When you are in the keys, you are at the mercy of the weather, and the seas can get nasty on you real fast. Oh yeah, and the uber bonus: You don't have to deal with I-95!! IMHO, if you want to go boating in the Keys in November, just sign up for the Key West Poker Run with FLPowerboat.com. YES, it's expensive, but it's Key West, and it's worth it. Cape Coral in March 2015: https://scontent-iad3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...0a&oe=55F2CACB Also, a friend/fellow OSO member is looking into opening a boat concierge service in Cape Coral by this winter as well. More info will be posted if that comes to fruition. |
