About the 5 minute mark your poor wife looked like she was getting the $hit kicked out of her.

Nobody can say you don't run the crap out of that thing, that's for sure.

Full Force 09-07-2015 08:41 PM

I never seen anyone actually get azz kicked in a Cig.... just some moving around lol

^^^ that`s just your standard 2-4' with occasional 5`+ Lake Michigan weekend.
It`s a little different than that soft landing cream puff Lake Erie water.
Lake Erie landings are like falling in a soft blanket of pillows lol:bananalove:

I`ve got a 7/16 threaded rod with that goes all the way thru to the bottom of the seat.

I think you are kidding yourself about the 100k, or maybe thats just for the wife to see lol, too nice for just 100

ICDEDPPL 11-18-2016 08:17 AM

I`mm not sure what you mean?
Last 4 years I`ve dumped at minimum $25k/year into the boat.
This year just for Bottom work/ Drive Guardians there`s $13k.. then there were full rebuilds on 2 motors .

She`s up for $80K .. $.30 on the dollar.

I am guessing you are not moving to a CC, curious why you are selling such a beautiful boat. I know it is non of my business, so tell me to mind my own if you don't want to say.

If ICDP goes to a CC, I'll buy a toon :helmet:

I think he means that you have way more than 100K in the boat for it to look/run as nice as it does.

Makes sense...Plus the purchase price I guess so yeah a little more than 100K.

Honestly I`m just a blue collar guy with a single income and a family , I can`t continue to afford this hobby. First the drives blew, then the gas tanks leaked, then the the motors finally died.. and all the stuff in between. Few weeks ago the I lost a shaft and a prop just idling around. There goes another $6K.. after that I called it done.
I can`t sell anything that`s not right so now basically everything has been done and done right (once I get the drive fixed)so I can sell and sleep at night.

Just sucks after 4 years and 10000`s of hours it`s not an easy decision.

Thanks for the response. I have to say that your boat turned out amazing and watching your videos seems like it was well enjoyed by you and your family. I think it is probably the best example of the model existing today. You should have no problem selling, especially as well documented as it is on this site. Good luck with the sale.

At the 5:30 mark is great, that is one beautiful boat.

I might be nit-picking but the phrase "just a blue collar guy" doesn't sit well with me. Countries all over the world were built by blue collar guys and blue collar guys make up the bulk of the population. If nobody was prepared to pitch in, get the job done and maybe get their hands a little dirty then the entire world would be in total ruin. The world owes so much to the 'proud blue collar guys'.

Disappointing when the cost of a hobby/sport increases so much it becomes a burden. Seeing a healthy, good looking family enjoying their hobby outside in the fresh air is priceless. Thanks for the video, I'm sure you'll stick with boating in some way, there are so many more economical ways to go boating than high performance stuff in a classic Cigarette.

On a lighter note, not much comes close to your avatars but that video is a near second. :)

I hope maybe something will change and Dan decides to keep the boat, the bulk is past you Dan, these things break a lot at times especially when going almost 90 in a old Cig, that's a extremely good running boat and pushes parts to limits getting it there, you have spent insane amount of hours and money into your dream, I am the same way to a point and totally get your decision, the things I been through myself the last few years I have asked my wife a few times if it was worth all the heartache, time and most of all the countless money spent... in the end at this point after 12 years as a boater I respond with "yes the weekends away are worth it, and the memories and good times are also" when its right they are fun, when not they SUCK!

if you are a true boater and really do love it like I think you do, it's a matter of time before you get another one, it must be a hard decision to give it up as you really do enjoy the "good times" on it...

Dan hang in there buddy. You wil regret selling it ,it is one beautiful boat. Get in touch Gary Kolofski and see if has some spare parts I think he is pretty reasonable. Wouldn't be the same without you in the Cig family .
Cheers Rick.

Your boat is the original and real deal go any were monster. This sport eats us up, we are glutens for punishment. Long hours a lot of work, time spent on OSO, broken parts, upgrades and lots of $$$$$$$$$. In the end it comes down to those moments we launch our boats and run them. That one moment while you are running and you think "This is perfect" euphoria. Do what you need to do sell or not sell. Do keep in mind if you do sell. Eventually be back for more pain with another boat. Most of us want a faster and nicer boat. That is why we go thru this endless cycle. Its hard to just settle Sit down and think it thru and weigh all options going forward. Hard to replace or rebuild too what you have now accomplished. Put her away for a year without expense is an option.

Full Force 11-20-2016 06:57 AM

Agree, it is so worth it when they are right.... the fun is like nothing else..

I have thought about that also. Taking a bit of a break isn`t a bad idea, I`d have to delete Facebook so I don`t have to see everyone out boating.:ernaehrung004:

Just let me use it while you take a break from it.

No need to shut down just tag along with many others. Lend them a hand once in a while, share your abilities that others would appreciate. Contribute to their pain

Interceptor 11-20-2016 01:22 PM

The absolute best advice I could give is don't let these guys sway you unless they're providing that $20K bankroll you previously mentioned.

Rick G 11-20-2016 04:23 PM

Hey Dan , jump in your car grab the fam this coming summer and come visit Big Al and me . You can mooch a ride my cig or Al's Scarab then bbq at my cottage. With your US dollar it would a discount trip and your wife could do some serious shopping in Toronto. Cheers Amigo.

ICDEDPPL 11-21-2016 04:10 PM

Thanks Rick, Al does have a nice deck out there... and I can bring my taxes for you to check out :D
Appreciate the invite..

cigrocket 11-21-2016 05:43 PM

Don't sell, take a year off if you have to. Park it in the sun, drink a few beers, you won't get your money back out of it anyway. Get a sign for your boat dash that's says" Boost costs money, how much do I want to spend today?" And take it easy on the equipment for a summer and save some$$

cigrocket 11-21-2016 05:44 PM

You have a great looking machine, and you wouldn't want to see some other jack ass driving it, ....

Or taking it apart!!!

These things are money sucking leaches. Keep it and you feel the need to keep up with it. Run it at the risk of costing $5k+ on any given day. To sell it you have a list of To Do's before you feel prepared.

It took me finding something else I wanted worse before I could part with my 40 that had endless money and time in it.

Good luck with the decision. My advise is to do what's best for the family.
