Why is this 38 Flat Deck selling so cheap??
|
It was on Facebook power boat swap shop a few days ago. The close up pics if the wrap looks like they used a matt finish wrap, don't care for that look! Other than that looks like a decent buy!
|
I watched this boat in Cleveland sit for sale for at least 2 years in a parking lot by Cleveland airport. It was in pretty rough condition then. At one time it was on Craig's for sale at $15k... Even though the transom may have been replaced, there is lots of history not being disclosed from what I understand.... I believe that Full Force had looked at it in another location a few years ago when it was for sale as well.... I've heard it was under water at one time as well.... I'm sure that there is someone on here that will chime in with more details....
|
It's ebay...just because it said it sold doesn't mean it sold.
Normally you will see it back up in a few days. |
Isn't the 90 mph wrap the equivalent of putting ss badges on a v6 camaro? That boat had been for sale for a LONG time before the wrap. And the prop pictured looks like it's hit everything but the lottery.
|
People also said my boat was under water as well... So take what people post on here with a grain of salt

Look at second pic of the original listing in cabin, is that a water line?
For me that boat is just too old and much more to fix it up compared to what can be purchased on the market, I do not see one thing about it that does not need attention it looks like a big money pit to me.. but it is a boat they all are.... |

It was on Craigslist a LONG time with no bites, at least 2 years, I heard it was under water at one point, the source if true is reliable, but was LONG ago.... the boat needs LOTS of work.....he had it on swap shop for 30,000 no way it will pull that, maybe at best the 18 it went to he should take, he paid 15,000 I think
|
And she is back up for sale....
Got to love the ebay games. |
It will be for sale for a long time, it was a "ok" buy at 15,000.... worth that in parts, but he has had it for a few months and selling already.... hmmmmmmm
|
Not worth much at all from what i see, cable steering, old controls, poor wrap , crap motors trs boat. Needs lots of attention and money. Go buy one with better hardware and shape and you won't be chasing the 8 ball.

Completely off topic, but why is the cafe racer you built back in your possession and for sale stripped?

From looking at the picture, it MAY, but not sure. You would think that if it was and they cleaned up the carpet, that they would clean that up too, but you never know with people. The other thing I noticed was that it had Mercruiser external steering at one time. Why did they take it off?
|
En heard the boat was stripped by owner due to lot of money spent on motors that didn't last very long. If Phil wants to get into I'm sure he will if not I respect that . As much as I heard he got beat up on it and not due to his fault of any way.

Pretty much the jist I got. How some one could strip a boat down to glass and the owner of the property " not know" is beyond me. Maybe I'm weak but I cant of over the shoulder a BBC and carry it down a ladder

Hahahah

Yea he got screwed if the story I got is true and most of it came from him, I was talking to him about other stuff with dales engines and he told me what happened I would have KidApaches azz for it stealing 35,000 in parts is illegal no matter what boat was in Phil's name .

How is any of this possible? Matt Trulio published an article about upstate powerboats and stated that the boat was sold. If the boat was in fact sold, there is no reason for it to end up back in the kids possession. The whole thing stinks of half truths, I wish the kid the best of luck and nobody deserves to get screwed, but I'm not buying any of it.

The tale goes it went back to get motors put in with bigger ponies. Motors went south in a couple ways and then an X amount of time went by and it was a bare hull that Houdini took apart him self it seems. Not sure how Phil got stuck with the boat / out some money if it sold he was paid transfer of owner ship and title. If it was brought back for more work then that's a different job in essenence

OK this is pure rocket science speculation, but here goes..... THe kid is getting anxious to unload the cafe So he starts wheeling and dealing. Makes deal to sell boat conditionally,,, i.e; I will buy it if you do this this and this. In the process of doing this this and this, he subs the work out and here is where the dealgoes south....
One of 2 things most likely happened.. 1. The guy he made the deal with realizes he is about to get boned so he strips the boat to recoup his investment ( he has probably shelled out $$ to have the boat put in the condition he want but hasnt yet actuall paid for the boat itself..) or 2. The kid goes with the sweetest talking lowest bidder to complete the work (Who doesnt seem to have the best reputation stripping boats and selling used parts) and surprise!!! While it does suck the kid took it in the shorts, he is young, naive and was advised by many to take the time to learn the ways of sea as there are sharks and sea monsters lurking. Instead he insisted he was a world class swimmer and dove off the deep end. Now he is struggling to climb to shore with water up his nose and bleeding somewhat profusely .Ambition is a wonderful thing, with the proper guidance it can be a great path to success, Ambition and arrogance can also be a direct path to butt hurt. |
Well if that is true at least lesson learned. Better when you are young and no bills.
|
You make valid sceneries
|
Dont get me wrong.I like the kid, he has ambition and balls, just needs direction...
|
very messed up mess.....

So I had to become a member here after it was brought to my attention that there are so many people engaged in conversation regarding my boat.
Yes I own the 1984 38 Flat Deck that is "so cheap"!!!! Yes I bought it out of Ohio. It was never disclosed to me that it was under water at any time. It was obvious however that it had a rough life thus far. Now for anyone to state it was under water would be false unless they have documentation proving it. While we all hear stories much like the fisherman's tales, unless you have proof there is no reason to repeat a story. I have in fact done serious work to this boat and it is NO LONGER the boat that you remember from Ohio. It has now had extensive exterior work done, brand new cuddy interior, hull sanded to primer, wrapped with the best vinyl on the market, complete timeous, newer drives and props and many misc. items fixed or replaced. I appreciate everyone's concern about the boat and there have been many stipulations regarding the boat. If anyone has a question or would like to see the boat in person, feel free to contact me directly. I'm not a dealer, I'm not a boat expert, I just love the classic line of a cigarette and couldn't stand for this one to be left by the wayside. As for those questioning price..... The boat is listed for 22500, not 30k!!! That is an asking price and I am open to offers. I don't need your low ball offers or smart comments. If you are interested feel free to contact me. In regards to eBay listing, someone won the auction and has yet to return emails. So I resisted it! Unfortunately there are scam bidders. Again I would like to thank everyone for the interest in my boat. It has been named "on the balls of a bastard rat" as it seems to be the bastard son that every hates. My apologies if I have offended anyone. Happy boating my friends!!!! |
Great post and class. Good luck with the sale and your next bastard. We've all had them!
|
It's just brought truth really. As for the sinking ect I agree it should be Justified , but with the odd exhaust possibly 420 maybe cyclone motors I'm not really positive no hydraulic steering over all dated trs boat in parts, where a boat is worth most, it's 10k break even. It's just the truth. Good luck
|
Thank you JD
|
Sick, thank you for you input. I appreciate your thoughts.
|
It should have updated engine and overall pics not the craigslist ad ones if all that stuff was fixed, there is clearly a water line in cabin, I would fix that.... wondering why it's being sold so fast since you just got it..kinda opens peoples eyes wondering why... the amount of scammers lately pawning off stuff on people make us very defensive towards things being "hidden"
|
It is being sold because I got engaged and am now a family of 7. The boat is too small. I purchased the boat a few months ago.
As for pics, yes there are a couple on eBay that I reused only because I did not have new ones at the time of listing. Thank you Full Force for you suggestions. I will certainly take them into consideration. |
I've parted many boats and still do. I look at everything as part out. For some one to enjoy it's worth more I will say. But it's different when the people of OSO get a look because they know what it will cost to do X item a rehab or a resto ect so little tougher of a crowd but all with good intention
|
Good posting Justfloatin
I'm not interested in buying your boat but it's good to see you sign up here if only to answer a few questions on one thread. To those looking to buy a Cigarette, here's one more for sale and you now have direct contact with the owner. He's seems open to answer any questions about the boat so if your in the market, take advantage of this thread and as usual, after due diligence and proper inspection you may get exactly what you're looking for.
