so tell me what you did, where you put your speakers and what you would do differently, which amp and where you put the head unit.

Thanks

Fusion 700 head unit - placed above sink on wall of cabinet pointed towards the bow in cabin - also have BT, and docking station hidden, then NMEA2000 hookup to Garmin Nav in cockpit
6 x JL 880 series woofers - 4x placed mid level between front and back seats, 2x towards floor by front seats
2 x JL 10" subs in back seat pointed towards bow
Amps - would have to check - 2x JL - 1 600x4channel (i think), 1 1000x 1? (really not sure on that)

Plenty loud and clear

5 Attachment(s)
4 JL 10" unders rear bench, seat was custom made for a big stereo and the face is 2.5" thick with wood and glass, that makes the subs really sound good and something most guys do not do and let them vibrate too much.

4 Apline type R 6x9 2 behind bolsters, 2 in front of bolsters on side gunnels about 12" from floor (the 6x9 produces a great across the board sound and one of the best ways to do it according to Marine audio guy I know)

upper side gunnels in cup holder facing backwards 6" Alpine type S

just in front of bolsters !' Alpine type R tweeters very crisp and clear

Amps are in cabin above bench seat since I have AC it helps to keep amps cooler, I am not a fan of hiding amps they need air..

Stereo is another place to not get cheap stuff especially amps, buy good part they sound great, cheap stuff will overheat and sound like crap..

I just replaced my JL770's with the 880's and there is no comparison. The new 880's are incredible.

I had 2 12" free air eclipse subs under the rear bench, 4 eclipse amps mounted against the walls in the storage area to the port side in the too gun cabin, eclipse head DVD/cd/mp3 head unit, two 7.5" tv's in the cabin hooked to the head unit and underwater camera at the props and 4 sets of eclipse separate components. Went with eclipse because it was done for an article on powerboat magazine do the stuff was all free but it sounded awesome regardless. We were very happy.

In a non wet boat like a gun, you don't have to even bother with the over priced marine stuff. And now a days unless you get into extremely high end and expensive equipment all the big brands sound good. JL, KICKER, pioneer, kenwood, Alpine, MB quart, etc etc.

Moxy - Do you want it sound good for YOU while you're in the boat? Or do you want to 'be the party' at raft ups (Grenadier or Potters for instance).

I would recommend different setups depending on what you're looking for....I agree on NOT getting marine stuff as Thisistank mentioned.

You want loud bass, you need kicker L7s with minimum 2000 watts good power. (My buddy threw his 4 x 10" JLs in the garbage after being overpowered by a boat with two L7s in a ported box)
