35' Mistress coming come!

I now can say I'm part of the Cigarette family hope you guys will welcome me!!!...........Spent 4 wonderful & some hectic days in Punta Gorda FL. getting it done.
Having it transported back here to Jersey on the 22nd should arrive by the 25th........It's an 1982 Kevlar Mistress hull # CRT35960582 ...A true barn find that sat for
over 20 years looking like new from the Cig factory!..........changed out all the old fuel (varnish) chemically cleaned out the 160 gal. tank. it needed new fuel lines
fuel sender, high pressure fuel pumps, fuel filters, fuel water separators, fuel injectors cleaned etc; etc;.........Towed the the boat & trailer to the PG airport and
topped her off 160 gallons of AV fuel..........fired her up for the first time and those Flagship marine 575's chevy tall boys thundered!!!.......never heard or smelled
engines so sweet!!.............Scippy

R&B aka Corry, like I said to you on the phone on Thursday, Cigarette rule of thumb, buying a pre 1998 Cig. for less than $50,000 all you are buying is a hull.

UNLESS YOU ARE SCIPPY, ONE LUCKY AND HAPPY GUY!!!!

Zero Patience 03-19-2016 04:45 PM

Cool boat, needs a bigger cig logo, and gas it up.

J-Bonz 03-19-2016 06:06 PM

Hey Scippy,
The boat is sweet! You gotta be really excited! Hopefully this means no more long days in the backyard working away every weekend. My only friendly suggestion is to put some serious thought into the winch stand design. If your planning to do a lot of trailering/ramping, it am be a big pain in the ars. That was the one thing I wanted to change on our mistress trailer but did not get a chance to. Take a look at some of the others in the classifieds. You will see what I mean. What happens is it can be difficult to nose over the V-block when backed in at the ramp... That's just my 2cents, never the less, sweet boat.
Jr.

scippy 03-19-2016 06:34 PM

Jr.............Thanks for the friendly suggestion and compliment...........The ramps here in Jersey (at least the ones iv'e used) seem to drop off suddenly in a very short distance.
I'm fearful of losing the boat, trailer and possibly my truck on such a ramp I don't have a small truck (Ram 2500 gas engine) but The Mistress and the steel Myco might be more
than my truck can handle on a sharp degree ramp.............I'm going to travel lift her for the first splash past that I'm not certain.........are you talking about being blocked of good
sight (over your shoulder) with my type of winch stand?

ROB FREEMAN 03-19-2016 07:25 PM

congrats and have a great summer , boat looks great

Fast Shafts 03-19-2016 08:07 PM

Congrats Pete! I'd love to see her when you get her home. Best of luck!!

Dont know if you have ever been there or not, but the municipal marina in Brick on Mantoloking Rd has a pretty good ramp. Wide, and not very steep. I know several people who put and pull good size boats from there. I use Cotys ramp on Fischer Blvd in TR. A little steeper, but a good ramp just the same.

Full Force 03-20-2016 06:52 AM

Sweet ride!! dash threw me off at first, someone spent time redoing that for a while! looks great bud!!

Have never been there, but I will check out the one in Brick since you say it's wide and not very steep........maybe I'll just go travel lift since the Myco trailer is steel not to good with salt.........thasnks

Hell of a nice boat Skip, best one I've seen in a looong time...

Sydwayz 03-20-2016 08:56 PM

GREAT looking boat! Congrats!

I would definitely add some more bunks to the front of that trailer before you ever try to load it at a ramp.
Also, you could upgrade to EoH brakes on the trailer, which will give you braking in reverse, and when you are backing down a ramp. This is one of my favorite features of EoH brakes. When it comes to trailer boating, there is NOTHING scarier than your boat dragging you backwards down the ramp with your front brakes locked up.

FF......Looking at the picture you posted of what a typical 80's mistress dash should look like ........mine (like you mentioned earlier) had to be customized because even the throttles are in diferent places

I installed electric brakes on 2 of the 3 axles........Just before I left for home we test towed the boat & trailer with a new denali diesel pickup. He was able to regulate braking from the cab ...you could feel the trailer braking
very hard just by setting a dial in the cab.......or to any degree of braking if he choose.......... could not even feel the big weight behind us. That truck was an equal match for the weight of a steel trailer & 35' Mistress

Long and interesting story that still continues today, but the short of it is: Boat begins life as a Kevlar 1982 Mistress purchased new by Sheik Khalifa from Bahrain, Arabian Gulf
Michael Aronow told me it could have been a Don boat since he was still there for part of 1982, anyway, it leaves the Cigarette factory as a blue & yellow boat with Hawk insignia
on the side and ships to the Arabian Gulf
Around this same time Don Aronow sells Cigarette for the last time in the latter part of 1982 to Jerry Jacoby of Hawk engines (this could be why the boat had a Hawk insignia on the
hull side) The Mistress is used for several years in the Arabian Gulf before it's shipped back to the U.S.A for re-power (Flagship Marine co. in Punta Gorda Fl. is given the task to
disassemble the boat 600 H.P. 528 cu. in. change to 650 H.P. 540 cu. in.... along with out drives, transmissions, almost everything mechanical was taken out of the boat to be refit new.
In the middle of the boat being torn apart Khalifa's mechanic dies, due to that death the Sheik says he doesn't want the boat any longer. a legal battle ensues where $$$ is owed to
Flagship for the work done & storage fee's ...a lien is put on the boat............after 8 years in court Flagship Marine Co. becomes the new owners.
In 1995 the owner of Flagship decides he wants the Mistress to be his own personnel boat.......The hull is torn down to the stringers and everything upwards is replaced new or rebuilt.
Those 540's were never installed in the boat due to the years of litigation, but now the owner of Flagship (Tom) decides to go with a pair of 575's (Flagships top fuel injected engines)
new SSM 3a's Imco lowers, Imco hyd. steering, new dash, new cockpit, new cabin, new gel coat, new rub rail, new engine race hatch..........matching Myco triple axle trailer etc; etc;
The engines are dynoed @ 658HP......boat is prop tested and is run for a total of 12 hours......at the end of 1995 the Mistress is backed into a climate controlled building where it will
sit for 21 years...................on March 16, 2016 the engines were fired up for the first time!.......Now, tell me I'm still dreaming!!!

outonsafari 03-22-2016 10:42 PM

scippy you should have what you just wrote put on a 3' x 5' framed picture of that boat over the fire place in the living room ( ya know if you have a fire place )

that is one hell of a find congratulations

This is how I first heard about the Mistress, Rob (Rhino rob) brought my attention to it when he bought the 29' Scarab.......although one person before me seemed to be making a deal for it
it didn't happen for what ever reason...I sure as hell wasn't passing on it......http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/c...ab-29-a-2.html

kreed 03-25-2016 06:28 AM

Get rid of the mufflers and put a bigger Cig logo on the side and your done!!!

Always look in the background of pictures. Never know what's lurking. Awesome score!!!!

glassdave 03-25-2016 08:17 AM

man that is one cool ride. I absolutely love EFI retro'd into older hulls. Do you know anything about the systems on your boat? Originally that intake was developed by Arizona Speed an Marine in the 90 but quickly snapped up by Merc as well as Innovation for the Volvo 600HP. What a great wave crusher ya got there

Kreed.......I agree, Can't believe I'm so lucky with some small issues like that and not having to throw big $$$ at it because most everything is done & new!
