Yes, I think $180 is close to what you would spend buying a 525 boat, then doing the upgrades, actually it's probably more than that. Problem is, and I'm in the same position with mine, no one is going to pay the full premium for all the upgraded hardware, and certainly not pay for the labor figure it took to get there. From what I have seen, buyers would pay about a 20% premium for upgraded equipment done the right way (a 525 original boat @ 125K vs. this boat at 150K) does that make any sense? But it costs about 50% to get it upgraded, improved, modified, whatever, 125K boat + upgrades = 187K. So you might get half back of what you put into it.....?

$150.....? (that's still alot of money!) But, it does have SCX and really nice power. That's worth something over other comparable T/S Guns on the market that are asking as much with bravos and merc 525. This thing probably really cooks with 900 Zuls. 115-120mph? Does a Merc 700 boat run 110-115?

Like anything custom, you RARELY see your money out of it. With that said, it's a sweet gun and even sweeter set up. From what I've been told by those in the know, those drives are very sturdy and as reliable as a SSM6 but with out the trans. As I've said before Richie builds an amazing motor that is as stout as it is reliable. (Buddy got over 400 hours out of his NA tunnel rammed 750 zuls before he decided to go through them). Obviously 180 is high market and the seller is trying to justify it with the set up. Will it work? Hope so for all you guys with TS guns ;) I presume guys like Tom (hot for teacher) is specifically interested and hopes it sells for 180 since he has a blown #6 TS gun. So, I say good luck. Awesome ride.

Oh, and I'm guessing 115 is what it'll do.

thats gotta be a MOFO to get on plane with so much prop no in the water

cigrocket 04-02-2016 03:31 PM

I agree, getting that on plane must e tough. I have -1 on the playboy and 5 blades. I put a spacer back in. You do loose a little top end, but it is more usable

TS market hit a low a couple years ago. Ever since then, the market has been scarce and the prices have gone back up. You will also have to pay more for stuff that has been upgraded. Also, smart buyers want to buy graphics/paint/interior that is timeless and classy.

Question..... Wouldn't the bigger diameter props make it easier to get on plane?

My thoughts on price , I think its a fair price . we have been searching the web for 4 months to find 2 T/S guns in great condition , found 2 to purchase both brought 185 ish without trailers with 525 power . Yes they were a little newer BUT with only 525 power . the 900 zuls are major upgrade a lot of people don't want due to refresh time and speed , again the drives are awesome major upgrade in price . If my boat was sold I would be looking at it to buy at that piece . just my thoughts

I have standard SCXs. They are 2" shorter then XRs. I had spacer added from Imco. We took out the spacer last winter and could Not maintain WP. I also have Stellings boxes.

As for the price thing- I have a whole hell of a lot more than $185 in mine. But it is all done right Finally. Will I even see Half of what I spent no. But when you want to Rock you better have some Roll.
I quoted a price for mine to some one and it was under 185. I am not ever sure I want to sell.

This thread needs some action lol- Have a Nice Day

You get what you pay for. How much more is a quality piece worth? That's up to you. If you think that it is priced to high, don't buy it.

It's funny, I've seen a lot of talk lately of upgrades and aftermarket being worth more. I wish I was in your part of the country. I've had 5 customers in the last 2 years turn down beautiful boats because they did not have Mercury power. And in my opinion the boats they bought were borderline under powered but the motors were blue and that's all they would buy. And paid more for!
