Cig Tiger or Fountain Exec

Looking for a new ride. Currently looking a Tiger with 575's or a 42' Fountain Executioner with staggered 525's.

Thoughts on which one you would pick...

Now there's an endless argument, Cig vs. Fountain. :)

Both great boats, I'd put it down to personal taste and if it was me, nothing beats the look of an Executioner. Classic windscreen, beak and bustle.

Both would be great boats. On engines alone, i would go with the Fountain. If looking for a big water boat, the Tiger. All out speed, the Fountain. I like the stagger boats, that would sway my decision.

Just my opinion:), but there is no comparison. Just put the two side by side.

CIG3 05-26-2016 07:20 AM

All depends on the type of boating you do. If you want a nice cabin and better top speed then the Fountain is the way to go. If you want good rough water capability for great day boating the Cigarette is the ticket. Also remember the Tiger is 42' the Executioner is 39 ish without the beak and platform.

Nice...

I have a Fountain now and had planned to purchase another one, but then starting looking at the Tigers since the are in the same price category. The Tiger's don't seem to have the same wow factor as the Top Gun's though.

There are a few flashy Tigers out there, but the Tigers were built before the flashy, billet everything, crazy paint era. Still beautiful boats and reasonably priced these days. Those flashy Top Guns your talking about are 200-500K. You can get a nice Tiger in the 125K area.

Are you calling my boat a plain Jane?? Both cool boats, if the cabin or all out top speed in chop is the most important thing then the Fountain is the winner. Resale and rough water ride the Tiger is hard to beat. Also don't discount the cool factor with driving around with a number "1" on the side of your boat lol! Also if you are left handed the Fountain males more sense:whistle:

IMO the Cig Tiger/42X are the best looking Cigs. But like others said, rough water, Cig, top speed Fountain.

At loto there seems to be a 10:1 (no actual data to backup the ratio) of Top Gun's to Tiger's. So when you do see a Tiger it has more uniqueness & check it out factor.

Zero Patience 05-26-2016 01:26 PM

Tiger nose is pointy, most had bravo drives on a a big boat, not a great combination. The 42 X is a bad ride.

Surprised, page 2 and it hasn't turned into a skank vs. whore debate... :)

mummaiv 05-27-2016 12:12 PM

What top speed would I expect to see out of the Tiger with 575 & super charger?

from the looks of things this guy would know. also have driven the fountain and a 38tg have only has back seat time in a tiger.

the 38tg was the best ride not the fastest but liked it the best
fountain was nice, fun to drive, fast but didn't like the size or the freeboard
the tiger was a big boat. wave crusher great ride, a lot of boat. the owner even said "its not a top gun" when asked witch one of the two

mummaiv 06-01-2016 12:30 PM

Most twin step TG's are out of the $$ range.

dlange 06-03-2016 09:47 PM

I've had both. 42 ex all day.

mummaiv 06-06-2016 09:19 AM

I ended up putting a deposit on the Executioner. The Cig which was featured this week on FB was a in need of a lot of repairs when we saw it this past weekend.

I think it's called show time. My friend knows all the details on that boat quite a back story I don't think it was well looked after for a bunch of years

mummaiv 06-07-2016 01:17 PM

That is the one.

PM the details if you have time. I wasn't too impressed with the dealership that is selling the boat either.
