Much elbow grease needed here!
Need some advice on cleaning (prep & materials) for the satin lower unit and 3 blade props. the lower unit is not pitted, but very dull...hoping to shine it up a bit.
As far as the props,they appears to be rust surfacing, but when I touch it it rubs off..not sure of the materialthe props are made from .....but if it's rust are they
made from steel?....confused here!I've enclosed some pics...........if anybody has a cleaning method for both it be much appreciated ...........thanks, Scippy

Props look like stainless steel to me. I've only got Bravo props to play with, nothing fancy but they get oxidized a bit and can show tiny rust spots if not cleaned. I just use steel wool and soapy water. If I had something more advanced than the Bravos, I'd try a stainless polish after the steel wool.

Props are Stainless Steel. Stainless will still get surface rust. Ultrafine Fine steel wool and then some Mothers mag wheel polish.
Same thing will work for the lowers. How shiny you want depends on how much time you want to spend.

Sounds silly, but a little SnoBol toilet cleaner (acid based) cleans stainless props up beautifully. Don't use too much and be sure thoroughly wash with fresh water, and follow up with a metal polish.

I would get some stainless SOS pads...scrub then clean and then get a stainless polish...or dip them in the stuff above

Must use stainless steel to clean with. Don't use anything carbon steel on those..... Or you'll be starting over. Lol.
We had a mr funny man write his name on a stainless I beam with a polishing wheel, that was used on carbon. After it embedded carbon particles it rusted for everyone to see. We had to go back up and clean it off.
