Hey Tank, Just checked out "By the Tail" Tiger on Phil's website, lot of boat and looks clean. He has it listed at 95k, can it be bought for 85k, or was that a mistake?

What did you not like about it after you spoke to Phil?

Just got in a cool Raptor |
Tank, How do you think it matches up against my Tiger, performance wise? It should be close.(Mind if I Smoke, re-named - Shere Khan)
|
I'd pay money to see a Raptor draggin' a Tiger along !:evilb:

It is a 2000 Straight bottom with Zul 1000's and 6 drives. It was Lorenzo Fertitta's original "Mind if I Smoke" boat. I am hurt and chagrined that you don't remember! LOL

So what do you think that '98 will top out at? My boat back in the day reportedly ran 106-108 according to Sean Stinson in an old post on an unnamed competitive site.
|
Phil put on the site 95+. Phil doesn't embellish with speeds and usually runs conservative when he posts speeds for boats for sale. Propped right and turning the lighter 3A i'm guessing its 96/97. Kenny Boyce was seeing mid 90's in his American flag tiger with Merc 900's and 6's. Tim McCray would've been over 100 or right at in his green / yellow /purple tiger with Teague 1000's and 6s if he would've spent the time (and money) to prop it after putting the Teague's in.
Your boats vacuum bagged so it's lighter and zul builds a true HP motor. If he says theyre 1,000's they're at least 1000 HP. 106/108? I believe Stinson, he's not one to embellish but that must've been one person, 15 gallons of fuel and in the perfect 2' chop in salt water rung the F out! lol ;) The real question is, why haven't you gone out and found out what she'll do?! ;) |
Thanks for that info Tank. Was that a jab, cause it felt like one. LOL To be honest, the script on the scoops says"Zul 1000+". I have only got about 4 hours seat time in her due to re-hab running late into August.Truth be told, I ran the T/G more because it is more user friendly and the Tiger is very intimidating. I am 64, and depend on one or two or all three of my boys to help launch, recover and navigate the Beast. Also I am 5' 7" and need to stand on a cushion to see where the bow ends! But, I love the look and feel of the Tiger. The mid range jump from 50 - 70 with those 653" motors is insane. Anyone who thinks "what's the big deal, it is only 4' " has no idea the amazing difference between the two boats.
|
I've been in a 2000HP Tiger with Stinson driving. There's a reason why they call him the "Illustrious One." Albeit, he could also be called the "Incalculable One" as well. :D
So, does sprstr own the Tiger that Harry Judge and Fred Cecil both owned? Or is the boat I am thinking of of the one on Phil's site? http://www.lipship.com/used_boats/view/83 |
Hey Sydwayz, To the best of my knowledge, my Tiger has had three owners before me. The first owner was Lorenzo Fertitta of USC fame. The second owner was from the Chicago area. The third owner that sold me the boat January of last year lived in Maryland but was not named Fred or Cecil. My boat is medium blue pearl over white bottom, with multi colored yellow, black, red graphics and stripes. Looks nothing like the boat Phil is listing.

"Tiger by the Tail" is a very attractive boat, I like the tan interior, white is tough to keep after. I am selling the T/G today at 3, might do something stupid with all that cash! Tank said last year that there are about 13 or 14 straight bottom Tiger's out there, I could own like 15 percent of total production!:evilb::evilb:
|
I remember your post from last year.
|
I kept pretty good track of the tiger speeds and none of the straight hulls from my recollection went over 105, most of the 1000s and 6s that phil and richie did were right at 99,100 maybe 102.. sprsptr, your boat had a vice done with the same paint but was silver and blue. very nice boat i think it has red 6s, that wound up missing as the boat sat for a while as it was for sale. My staright bottom has been 92 and not 100% set up, i should crack 100 this year with the new upgrades.
|
Did you ever see my boat in Maryland? The owner I bought it from kept it racked at Lynnhaven Marina. PS My drives and tabs were red originally, changed them to black.

Sorry my bad, it was Virginia Beach. Memory not so wonderful thing , not working!

Tank, My '97 T/G had 525 sc's. with Bravo drives. It was a 300 hr freshwater 2 owner boat in really good shape. No stress cracks, motors freshened in 2014. I loved it, but I got 65k from some nice local guys. I got all my money back, and no hassle with tire kickers or dead beats. Of course everyone says it was worth more. I think in May it would have brought 75k, but I am satisfied with the deal. The boat came from Wataugua Lake in Tennessee, and was a fill in cause the Tiger was 3 months late getting finished with some maintenance and cosmetic work. It featured original sticker graphics kinda gay pink / purple and black on the sides and deck, with checkered flags and pink gauge bezels and rugs. Sorta Miami Vice vibe. No problem for me, I am secure in my manhood! MSO showed Martin Marine as original dealer.

Thanks for the pics. J-Bonz, garish red drives and tabs have gone to black as God and Carl K. intended! The ultimate goal for me is to master this bad boy. Selling the T/G that I really liked forces me to that end. No mo ' 'scuses!
