Default Interior fastener question

I'm sure many of you have dicked around with those double ended xmas tree
fasteners that hold various interior trim panels on. I resecured my Pt side upper cockpit trim panel with new ones a couple months ago and was able to make it all work even tho it was kind of a pita. The problem is the female holes in the backing of the trim panel are just slightly larger then when originally drilled so the interfierence of xmas tree engagement is a little less than desireable and the panel works itself away from the hull at times. Other than the holes the trim panel and upholstery are in fantastic shape, so I'd rather not replace it or drill a ton of new holes in both the fiberglass and panel. Question: has anyone experienced this and what was your solution? Seems that these double ended xmas trees come in 11/32 exclusively? Anybody know if there are various sizes so I could go to the next fractional size up? Or?
Thanks.
