Busted a timing chain shortly after we spoke on the phone about drive setup, probably that weekend, touched a valve and had to take the engine apart again. I have 4 hours on a "new" engine and I pretty much shot most of the season away, again. Lovely thing this is they call boating, when do we get to actually "go boating"?
This one isn't on the engine builder, just a **** part, but hey why not with all the other challenges on this one.

A timing chain doesn`t just break, I had an adjustable that got loose , advanced itself and broke the dowel on the cam. (that was fun drilling out)
Still didn`t break or hurt anything . I only found it by accident , probably ran half the summer like that
So.... your builder sucks, sorry to hear .

I have no clue also how a timing chain just breaks, I wonder how that happened myself, I hope Justin is fixed up soon and can get more time, still got 3 months left of boating still.. the thing that sucks is none of the issues he has had are "big power" issues, been all BS fails.... I feel horrible for him as I know the feeling too well.
