My pops and I went in on a sweet 20. (I'll post pics once I figure out how) We've been casually looking, for a couple years, for a nice one to use on our local lake. Boat is a 2000 with a 502efi and a Bravo III drive. Question is why a Bravo III on such a small boat? I always thought that drive was for heavy cruisers. We were thinking of doing a bravo with a shorty imco lower. Ive noticed Lipship has set up one of the 20's they built, that way. And also with a blackhawk drive, but we're not interested in going that route. But before we do anything, thought Id get more info. Anybody have first hand experience with changing out the B3, and if so, what were your results?

I'd stay with that B3 for a while. might work out real well. Propping might be the only issue. I think its real cool to have that drive buried and a real stable boat that would come out of the hole like it was shot out of a cannon and great midrange, play around with it before you give up. BatBoats use DualProps and they are deep and go like Hell

unless you plan on going 65+mph in your 20 the B3 is a great set-up. Very stable and forgiving. Once you try to push the B3 over 65mph they hold you back do to the drag of the larger lower case. At that t I would switch to a standard bravo. You aren't going to gain much going to the shorty as the speedmaster style design creates additional drag until you get over 80ish mph.

Hello, I have had two 1995 20's. Both came with B3's. I have to say I can't stand the B3. Yes it is stable at speed with the counter rotating props but, they just are not what I wanted. Switched to a Bravo 1. This was a great improvement in my opinion. Definitely easier around the docks and more fun to drive at speed. Almost as fast out of the whole as the B3. Had no luck with 4 blade Hydromotive or Bravo1 props. Best prop I found was the Mirage Plus 3 blade. The Hydromotive was violent on deceleration. My current boat is a 1995 20 with modified HP500 with Blackhawk drive 29 pitch props and experimenting with 31's. Slow out of the whole but great mid range and stable at speed. Shoot me an email and we can discuss more. I would like to see pics of your boat.
